Oversized Opponent Guidelines

There are not too many large enemies in the Kirby games. Big Waddle Dee, Golem, Giant Rocky, Metal Guardian, and Heavy Knight are just some, although most, of the examples. Later entries to the exclusive likes included Bun, Acchi, and Metalum.

It shouldn't be difficult to make a big, fat enemy. However, I wanted to set just a few quick guidelines to keep things from being bland. For a more general guide to these IF Contests, see the IFAQ.

Ability Based - All giants give an ability, except for Giant Waddle Dee. Let him have this one claim to fame.

No Stone - Out of the slim pickings, two giants give the Stone ability and another gives Metal. Ugh! There's enough big chunks of mineral to go around. Be more creative than that.

No Multi-Powers - Kirby can actually get one of three abilities from Golem. Multiple possible powers are just gateways to disaster, so keep it simple. Just pick one.

Legitimate Ability - Just to seal up any possible holes, the ability chosen has to be one possible. No Final Abilities, no anime-only abilities, no abilities in unreleased games, no made up ones, etc. This shouldn't need said, but I want to make it clear.

No Grand Wheelies - While not actually referencing large enemies, I'm re-instituting the rule that you are supposed to be making a new enemy, so don't just make an old one triple in size. That's not creative at all. I know they did it with Dee and Rocky, but you are expected to be more creative.

Fit the Mold - Large enemies require a full strength inhale and are immune to such attacks like slide kicks and air pellets. Don't change how yours can or cannot be inhaled or other established factoids. You're not re-writing what a large enemy is. Just make one.

These are NOT Mini-Bosses - I didn't think that needed said during the Knight contest, but the public proved me wrong. As has been said countless times, you are making large, regular enemies.

I better not get any wise guys - Most all of the names use hefty adjectives like "giant", "big", "heavy", and "metal". That's because they weigh more. I better not see any wise guys try and pull out a spindly or air filled guy.
