From Kirbypedia

Large enemies first appeared in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror. They are more difficult to defeat than regular enemies. Kirby cannot inhale inhale them until the suction builds up to full strength. Additionally, certain attacks have no affect on them, including the slide kick, air pellets, and crashing from above.
