The Future of KRR?

The site has been around just shy of 10 years, in fact hosting ends a month shy September 26th which marks 10 years for KRR. I started this site a long time ago on AOL, I never dreamed it would be what it is today, and the people I've met (who have been mostly amazing) are priceless. I remember being ecstactic when we reached 100 hits, 1000 I was shocked. By 10,000 and the people that I had started to meet I knew something special was happening.

KRR hits home personally for me because I have made some of the greatest friends here, and of course I met Bagel whom I'm sure some have already known or figured out is my boyfriend. Ewww yea yea quiet ;) <3

I never like being in charge, I just always wanted to work on the site. However everytime I came to work on the site there would be a nagging problem regarding KRR's social structure that needed my attention. I wasn't working on the site anymore, I was being called to breakup fights or override someone or hear drama that just stalled anything I came to do in the first place.

Even those certain people who had problems with me... I don't even care anymore nor have I for a pretty long time, I have even said we could start fresh over but sometimes people just don't want to. I am always open to people coming back and moving on, but the point is MOVING on.

I took a break for a while, made a Mother 1 site and even applied to staff at Starmen.net under a different pseudonym - SchalaNu. I didn't say I wasn't kindar, but when Tomato asked me if I was I had to spill the beans and joined up to work on the Mother 2 section as kindarspirit. I had a great time there, but my heart was always at KRR. Starmen.net and KRR have always been my respective homes, wherever I am in my life.

I have always wanted to just work and keep quiet and out of confrontation but as the site got bigger the pressure mounted. Instead of chatting on the forums after working for hours on a site project, I had to patrol the forums and not play on them. It is hard when you like people and have them turn on you when you don't agree with something they did, and it is even harder to tell my friends what to do.

I just want to work on the site and enjoy being with the friends I have made. That is my reason for being gone, not disputing rumors that Ivy or Bagel or Disk ran the site, I didn't care. I don't need credit nor did I ever really want it -- I just want to work on KRR I don't need a spotlight like some people do.

Bonnie, Tim, Marc, Brandon, Ryan (x2 hehe), Leanne and so many more who have made such an impact on my life that it will never be the same. There are so many more people who have always been so kind and amazing that it restores my faith in people over and over again.

Anyways, if you don't know me my name is Sarah and I am always willing to meet new people and talk whenever anyone wants to. Be it about Kirby or talking about life, it erks me when people act like "kindar" is some boss person who is in charge of everything. The only power I assume is to make sure the site survives and to do my best to make sure to continue that it thrives as long as people want it.

I know someone, who will know who they are, who always reminded me what was special about KRR was that is was NO one's site, it was everyone who visited it. People started calling themselves "Resorters" and it was really special.  In the end yes this is my site and I claim it only to protect it and keep it going. People are welcome to pull their stuff off if they disagree with me, but years of my life were poured into working on this site from the very creation. Tons of the work you see is mine, and I don't claim credit for it. In fact I have updated many times and given the update to someone else so that they might get a chance to update. It is important to me that people feel like this is their site, I didn't create it for myself and I definitely didn't update it for myself.

This will matter to the staff that as long as they want to stay they can, and that if new people want to help I will be active in trying to keep the site going once more. I am going to change the way things are run, and for once I am just going to do it like I used to. When I asked permission from everyone on the staff it seemed every idea was at a standstill. I'm just going to work on it and do as I please, and if you hate it you hate it and it goes. People complain about "the good old days" but things are what you make of them, and we can get KRR going again and all the people that have differences with us can stay or go.

At the moment, I am ironically doing website work for a job and have the means and resources to help KRR. Bagel has also pledged to financially help KRR out, and with the options we would get going somewhere else are endless! We can move, we can get a domain name or look for hosting elsewhere and right now money is not the issue. This could not have come at a better time.

We can do everything we used to want to do and couldn't -- we can have a non-profit store to go towards the site while offering KRR items (yes, many asked but this is why we never had a cafe press store -- we can't). We wanted to use consenting artists' work on cafe press items, spotlight the artists that make KRR so unique, and allow work to be seen and help KRR's hosting or contests. We would *finally* run contests and be able to give out REAL KIRBY PRIZES without asking for permission. Contests really were something I missed doing, and with that as a possiblity again it is really exciting. We can have 100% freedom to do whatever we want now and there are so many things we could do to enhance KRR it has my interest peaked because there is no question of moving off of gamespy -- we HAVE to. I feel like KRR is my canvas again, there is no one for me to argue with about what I'd like to with KRR, I have to do something now.

There are ultimately things going on between Disk and Aqua, and of course Bagel and I too, to ensure that KRR keeps going and now maybe entering our 2nd decade (isn't that incredibly weird to think about? This site popped up 7 years after Kirby!) We all need to get together and talk about it, because I assumed Bagel and I would be dealing with this and then so did they, so I guess there is a lot to talk about but each party has kept it on mute.

I just wanted to post this because no one has said anything about where KRR stands officially and I guess it is because I have to and for the first time I want to. I feel excited to work on KRR again, and now things can be even better. I work on a website as a job now, being able to fill gaps of time with working on KRR would be easy.

My interest in Kirby has never wavered, in fact ironically when I got the news I was thinking about it while playing SSBB and I was fighting MK and Kirby. I can't imagine never not being a kirby fan, and if it makes me a geek I can live with that, people have called me worse =) Especially those few who will read this that don't like me. That is okay because I like everyone, and I always meant it when I used my ^_^'s

If we invest this much into KRR it will change, and I will be more active because this isn't just a site anymore this will become something I do with my life and so it will be for Bagel. I do not mind being a dork running a site about a pink puff, I never have but I consider my slate with everyone clean if we go ahead with this.

So, KRR is safe if you want it to be safe, it is always up to the visitors. In the end we are all fans and that is what matters the most. Do you want to see KRR again in 10 years should nostalgia hit you and you want to visit? Or do you think we've had a good run?

Personally I want to keep going, and I will until the counter doesn't move anymore.

This is starting to go really cheesy so I guess I'll end it there.

<3 kindar

Thanks always to the staff who work so hard without all the credit and thanks that they fully deserve. They work their butts off, even when it seems they are working alone they still work hard for *you*. Please sometime if the feeling hits you, be sure to thank them because we are all doing this for free and for you. KRR I consider to be my (and maybe some other people do) to be my home, and they keep it going.

You guys rule! This site will never go under, and someday I'll join up when I learn HTML and CSS!

Hehe.. I lurked here 5 years ago, when KRR was in a pretty bustling time. KRR IS my resort, however cheesy that sounds. I visited the home page every day for 5 years, until I signed up as Chocoboom. Really, this site is something I'm sure I'll look back on as one of the best things that happened in my life... I'm certain of that. I don't ever want this website to end, however childish it sounds. It holds so many childhood memories. The community is really kind, and I appreciate that. I always have. I love the community as a whole. If this site went down, the community would be scattered... KRR is part of my daily web visits, and without visiting KRR, my day is never complete. ^_^

I second your idea of going forward. KRR can't die yet. I've loved Kirby for as long as I've visited the site!

Also, kindarspirit, I think you are doing a good thing by updating yourself, since I never really see many updates on the main page anymore. When I used to check daily, there was at least one update per day or 2 days. Now we have to wait about a week? before an update, and it crushes me because I know we can all do so much better.

I will never finish appreciating KRR, because it just is part of me, now. Yup, I'm being all cheesy too. But it's true... I really adore everyone here, and I hope it stays like this forever :)

Thanks for reading this long post, whoever bothered to. ^_^

All in short: KRR must live!
Posted by Chocoboom on 6:23am June 22nd, 2009
I most certainly want to the site live on. I've only just joined last year to post sprites and discovered that I could actually draw better than I thought. Please try to keep it running as long as possible.

Kindarspirit? The creator of KRR?
Wow! You and the other guys rule!
I think this site will never go under too, except when Kirby goes under.
But I'm sure that won't happen!

I love KRR, I go here every day! On Oct of 08, I stumbled over here because I want to know some info about Kirby! I explored the site so I can know whare alot of places are. I used to go to the long way to find for my Kirby games: Go to Game Facts, click a game system, click the leeter K, and scroll down the page for a while. That takes me 5-10min, now I take a short-cut:go to KRR, click a Kirby game, and click walk throus. This takes me like 30sec, which makes happer! Affter 1 mounth, I joined the Fan Art Gallery, and made friends! A few days beffore Christmas, I uploaded my Kirby pic in the Gallery, As time passed I got better at my pics. On Christmas, I got KSSU and I was vary happy, then on my birthday, I got my Kirby plush and I was haveing tares of joy, you might tell that I was vary happy! On feb, I joined the Oekaki, I don't do much thare. Going to KRR is my daily habbit, hearing the news that Gamespy leaveing KRR one week after the last day school is not all that suprizeing. KRR shall live for ever!!! ^(^o^)^

something between Disk and Aqua? ewww

Anyways, I'd love to see this site keep going no matter what. I'm also looking forward to what comes next then.

Welcome back, Kindarspirit. I've been visiting this site for... I believe seven years now. It's good to see you posting on the front page again.
Hope your new job goes well, and here's to ten years of KRR.

Oh, Kindarspirit... I\'ve always wanted to meet you. I can always tell in your writing that you are a fantastic and hardworking person, never neglectful or lazy at heart. It\'s people like that who make such wonderful webmasters. I also really respect you for not giving up on your fandom for Kirby, even when times are tough like they are now.

I always look at hard times with a positive attitude. I say \"I can claim my way out of this\" and \"I\'ll get out of this somehow.\" And I almost always do. I don\'t think having a website is much different. This could very well open up all sorts of new oppurtunities for KRR and as long as there\'s interest, it could very well become the same fantastic site it was a few years ago.

I don\'t believe all things will \"die down\" as time passes it by. In fact, I think that if we put our minds to it, we can help it live on.

In any case, it\'s great to see you again Kindar, because even when you\'re not updating on the main page or showing up anywhere else on the internet, I am thinking of you and looking at your work.

Woo, that was a lot. I need to work on my brevity... ^_^;

Kindarspirit? That was touching! I love Krr! This site rules. I agree with Pandemonium. This site won't go down unless Kirby goes down (Which will hopefully never happen).

A beautiful speech Kindarspirit. It didn't sound cheesy at all in my opinion, I'm glad you finally settled the worries of all who love KRR.

I'm exactly like you, Kirby-fan wise. I've been a fan for practically my whole life and it's not waning. Luckily, once I told my best friend about him, the contagion spread.
I'd love to actually do something on the site. I should really get a forums account so I can at least talk with other Resorters.

It was an excellent speech, by the way. I feel excited for a new Rainbow Resort! And I'm so glad that you're going to be more active in the site! By the time I found this place, you were already moving out of that stage, so I was more used to seeing RMD and Ivyna J Spyder updating.
...Funny how neither of them seem to update anymore...
Posted by Blu on 11:41am June 22nd, 2009
I would love to see KRR survive as long as is possible. I joined this site a few years ago - only because a friend of mine was on it - and while I'm not the hugest Kirby fan ever (though I definitely do love the puff), the community here is a really excellent one.

I've made some really great friends through this site, actually gotten the courage to show off some of my writing because of it, and truly feel completely at home here. The people are great (from the sometimes deadpan sarcastic but always helpful mods to the new members I always end up complaining about), the information and guides are useful, both for research and for fun, and the history of this place is really quite something. The future should be just as entertaining, and I'll stick with KRR as long as it is around.

That was so beautiful! I almost want to cry I am so moved. I promise to try to contribute to the site so we can all see it in the next 10 years! This Resort isn't going down without a fight!

It is an honor to meet you, Kindarspirit. I am so proud to be a Resorter.

You've had a good run..

Which is WHY you should keep going!

This is THE Rainbow Resort! There will be no other! Even if Sakurai himself sets up a new site and comes up to me in person, pointing me at this site or perhaps the RR from the games, I'd show him just why this site is THE Rainbow Resort!

You've kept this page going, it's THE Rainbow Resort- it's had a good run and like hell you should stop here! Keep going! :)

I've only been here a year or two now, but Kirby is a major part of me, and as such the site is to. Thanks to this site (and some of my own personal gameplay of course) I know everything I've ever wanted to know about Kirby! This site can not go down. If it does people will rampage through the streets I'm sure. Well probably not but a lot of people will be very upset at least.
Posted by mrgameandpie on 3:22pm June 22nd, 2009
Man, I hope that this site NEVER closes.. This page holds a special place as part of my childhood, believe it or not!

I've been going to this site for like... what nine to ten years? I'm not sure, but I've been going here since I was in elementary, and my knowledge of kirby comes from this wonderful webpage dedicated to Kirby.

I used to make Kirby comics in elementary school(I still do to this day.) Many comic's on this page inspired me to make my own comics

(Well... since I was little and I didn't know better, some of the plots in my were plagerized, from the comics here, LOL!)

When I saw read this update, my heart skipped a beat. KRR might close?! Oh god no... I love this web site with a passion... I don't want it to die. Not only is it the best Kirby webpage on the net, (My opinion anyway...) but this webpage was a part of my childhood. It would be very hard to take when I come to this website, only to see that it is not available.

Please, Please, do not take down KRR. I love this web page very much, and I can't bear to see it gone.

"I met Bagel whom I'm sure some have already known or figured out is my boyfriend."

...holy CRAP I never figured that out. o_0 *mind is broken*

On a less facetious note, KRR was one of my first online communities - joined back in 2005 and I lurked before that - and I still visit regularly. I would be pleased if KRR continued just as strong for years to come. Hopefully the games can keep up. :P
Posted by Hypotenuse Man on 5:56pm June 22nd, 2009
AHA! So that explains the themes of KRR ending and whatnot in the bag o\' mail.

...or not. Anyway, I\'m just a fifth party here, though I have considered being more but that\'s probably unlikely. All I have are sprites and stories that are only vaguely related to Kirby. If I can do anything to help, though, there\'s probably nothing!
Posted by Topmonhit on 7:05pm June 22nd, 2009
Even if GameSpy closes I refuse to see this site close down too. I have been a fan of Kirby for way too long to see this site close down, and that's all there is to it! (^o^)
Posted by Kirbyfan103 on 7:08pm June 22nd, 2009
Oh yeah and I didn\'t even mention my stance that this site shouldn\'t die. Even if the games section hasn\'t been updated in a grillion years and...

...hmm... idea forming for later. For now, don\'t let the site asplode. [s]I still haven\'t been able to call Ometon Needle Gooey.[/s]
Posted by Topmonhit on 7:19pm June 22nd, 2009
Kindar,

I'm sorry that GameSpy is planning on closing its doors to your site later in 2009. Maybe in the future, I may help you guys help with bringing the site to its own domain so everyone can visited here more.

I joined KRR in the forums in 2003, and I was banned on the forums since *cough*RMD*cough* abused me in mid-August of 2005 and lied to one of the pevious staff members there, and I fought him back, but I failed. D= Guys, I wanted to say, I am really sorry that what happened. I promise that it won't happened in the future. I know it's been ruff on me, but I had moved on.

I wanted to say congratulations that this site has turned 10 years old! I will support you guys no matter what. =)

Nooo...

I've been going here since i wuz in 3rd grade(now i'm in middle school)and I was first part of the Artboard,(Kirby__Knight)where the friendly people helped me feel better when I was depressed, until they took it down.I forgot about this site, then I remembered it later and kept visiting it.Now I still love Kirby but mostly come here to see how the site's going even though I never signed up...and I see this.(no offense tho)I'll really miss this site, though I hope it can find a new server. This was my first fan site I visited before Serebii and Starmen.

Anyways, I just hope it can live longer than it says it will. I grew up with this place. That may have sounded cheesy, but anything posted for this, I don't think is cheesy. And never will...

I'll really miss this site.

Ota ota... Ayoisho! I can't believe it, it IS actually you, after all this time! KRR's Great Empress, Kinderspirit-sama! I don't believe that I have ever really met you, but it goes without saying that your reputation precedes you. Thankyou so much for starting this amazing website!; Kirby's Rainbow Resort is actually the ONLY place I hang out online. As everyone is laying out their life stories, allow me to share mine.
I have lurked here since the dawn of the new millennium. Countless times, I have come to the site to actually research each Kirby game/character and to gain greater insight into the series. In the beginning, what really caught me were the ancient Art Boards, no longer in service. Because I was forced to go to the library for internet access in the past years, I could not upload any of my own artwork, or even join the Oekaki, but the Art boards were my domain! I loved them because I could just go to any of the 4 that were open and start drawing Kirby stuff (back then, technology was new to me ^_^); I could also save my work there, and others could freely view it. I still remember all the good friends I made there. I tried to return to this wonderful site at least once every week after then. Today, I visit KRR every day from the comfort of my own home!
Posted by Dedede-Daimyo on 8:26pm June 22nd, 2009
Anyway, I'm glad to finally have heard from you, and hope for a prevailing future for the site. There is no doubt that those who manage the site can save it, and with Kindar at the head, KRR's future looks bright indeed! I thank you all, and keep up the good work. Your ideas seem really interesting, especially of art and contests; I would not mind lending my services to benefit the site and its fans in the future! I fully support the KRRRevival~!

This website has really made an impact on my life. I've been going here for around 8-9 years? It's been one of my favorite websites since I was a kid and I've met practically all of my friends here. I remember the first oekaki KRR had. It really sparked my interest in drawing. I appreciate what the staff has done... I have seen this website go through many MANY amazing changes. <3

As long as there are Kirby fans as devoted as the people here (both staff and people who submit their stuff), I think the Rainbow Resort will live forever, no matter what it goes through. A lot of love and effort was put into the site, I'm sure, and everyone will always do their best to support it, from what I've seen. As long as people continue to love Kirby, many generations will be able to experiance this site and Kirby. Everybody who helped make this site what it is are really awesome!

Kindar?! It's been a while. I joined KRR a few years ago, when Ivy and RMD were still around. I check up on the site from time to time, but not so frequently any more. KRR was what gave me the idea to start drawing Kirby and come up with this name. As long as KRR has loyal fans (which I'm sure it does), I'm sure it can get through a relocation. Good luck, KRR, I know you guys can make it.

The whole community\'s got your back, Kindar. KRR is one of the only remaining Kirby fansites that is taken seriously, and there is no way any of us are going to let it collapse.

I\'ve seen a lot of good members leave the site out of a lack of interest. Their personalities were invaluable contributions to our community and they made things more interesting and fun. Heck, I even miss the annoying ones; they may have been annoying, but the reactions from other KRR members around them was always priceless.

Nonetheless, new members are always joining our community, and many of them are just as amusing and awesome as the veterans that made KRR a fun place to visit.

Kindarspirit,

I randomly discovered your site (if you don't mind me refering to it as such) roughly five years ago after randomly google-ing Kirby Otaku and immediantly fell in love with it. I asked questions to the Mailbag once or twice and I admit, I was the crazy fan who send in the email about MK's Final Smash being revealed (I do not regret it ^^;). This site, has actually become a part of me and I am proud to call myself a Resorter because all of the hard work you and the others have put it. KRR should move forward. I love the fact that the site will be able to have much more freedom and I sincerely look forward to it should KRR continue. I stand beside you when you say that you've been called worse names than a geek because of a gaming fetish (My friends jokingly call me Meta Kait, others use it quite harshly)

But all of that aside, KRR MUST continue. This is not just a site, this is a family. A family brought together by an intergalactic, pink puffball that will withstand the test of time. As long as people remember Kirby, he will never be gone. As long as people remember Kirby, people should remember KRR.

Hears to another decade of Star Rods and Heroes. I look forward to this site's promising future.

I am a Kirby fan of course, and this is my ultimate website i can go on to be myself and to have all my freedom and love of Kirby. I REALLY REALLY hope that KRR will remain going and I really want to thank the staff again for everything they have done for everyone and how nice you are being to everyone. THANK YOU. BTW, That heart star guide saved my life in Kirby's dreamland 3! I pray that this site will continue so I can still have a great Kirby site to go on... THANK YOU.

I hope my previous comment helped. Its a pleasure to finally comment on this site when I have been a huge fan of this site (And Kirby) for such a long time. It's a pleasure to finally be a true resorter and to comment. I hope this site will go on and on! Good luck!

I have made a previous comment but I wanted to say something more. I have seen how an outside family works, they are absolute strangers brought together by strangest ties and become as close to a family as one can get. I was on a Medieval Faire cast and man they would do almost anything for you!! I really thought we'd never be matched in the "We're a Family Aire"... but I here at Rainbow Resort you guys made this website and became a family. It's a good one too, as I can see from all these comments. I want to become part of this family [though I do not know how] But remember it's all about fun!! To have a good time and enjoy this community of strangers brought together by even stranger ties. I really want to help I will do almost anything from art, [I know you guys have lots but I want an opinion because you guys inspire me. That's the reason I have been drawing them so much :D) to any information I can find to maybe even buying a whole Japanese Kirby book and scanning the whole thing in. I want to help. From the bottom of my heart, Look around Rainbow Resort. Look at all the fans you have collected and all the dreams you inspired. You guys are awesome in my opinion. And I think that mutual for pretty much everyone here. [If anyone can tell me how to get in here I would be very thankful]

I feel like I need to write a really long comment like everyone else, but really, all I can say is live up to your dream, and let's keep KRR rolling.

I wasn't joking about learning about HTML, by the way. I'm seriously doing my best to learn fast so I can join up and help the site survive. Good luck to all of you, I hope KRR will survive!

Go Kindy. :D

There's no way KRR will die, unless it's allowed to. Hosting is so cheap these days. :x

I think it'd be a waste to stop with KRR. It's such a great site and, as you said yourself, you have been working hard on it for nearly ten years now, so it would be a waste to just let go. Go KRR! :D

I love the site. (Although I really hate the forum and people on it)

Still, I am so glad there is a site dedicated to my favorite game hero. There needs to be a place for people to get Kirby related info and resources.

Thanks a lot.

Oh, no! Please don't close KRR down. Even though i've moved on to other sites, (BITF, mostly) this one is very special to me. Please don't let us down!

I never signed up for this site but I've always considered KRR as something of an online home. It's a great place to get info on the games and anime. I also enjoy looking at everyone's (very awesome) artwork on the oketai. And the mailbag is a nice break from my life. ^^
Posted by LilackSuntra on 10:24am July 2nd, 2009
How can I help? I've been going to your site for hints and tips on the games since it first went up, And I'd be devastated if KRR were gone :(
Posted by Buroken on 9:18pm July 2nd, 2009
It's my first time visiting but I should say it's a pretty neat thing you've got going on here. I hope for the best, regarding future luck.
Also, you need to update the "© Rainbow Resort 1999-2007. Kirby and all related characters © Nintendo" :) Don't know how that works, though...
Posted by Richard on 10:56pm July 3rd, 2009
Good sites...
...don't...
...DIE!
Heh, heh, heh!
Can you get out of here...
...alive?

But seriously, if krr closes, I'll be thrown into a deep depression. We must survive!

Darn, Not only will do I fail at HTML, but according to the Staff Page, I can't join, due to a Feb 1st deadline and a broken link
Posted by Pandemonium on 11:59am July 5th, 2009
I discovered this site about 7 years ago when I was thinking about buying my first Kirby game. Since then I have visited a few times each year for various purposes. I have to say, when I first saw this comment, it stressed me out. But now seeing that this will actually be for the better, I'm pretty excited. Best of luck to you KRR!!!

Keep KRR running. Will the new site be linked to when you move?

I heard KonTek.Net, might be a good area to look for hosting..

Heh, I still remember the ruckus Blade Knight inc and I (mostly him) caused in about 2000. Then again, I make no secret of that, I mention it all the darn time. Still, I must say I'm glad you are a forgiving person Kindar, even if you forgot. =P

While I'm not much of a community person, KRR was the first place I joined nearly 10 years ago, and then again about 4-5 years ago. I can't say I really got into much outside talking about Kirby, I doubt I was all that close to anyone. Still, you don't forget things like that.

Eh, I just happened to stumble upon this announcement while looking to listen to some Star Stacker music (which ya'll still lack the GB version. I was supposed to give that to you a long time ago, it's still awesome. Star Stacker music can't stop being awesome). All I can say is do what you must. I hope my contributions (like the Avalanche and Block Ball MP3s among others) have helped.

See you 'round, clown.

This website is the first I've been to. = o =
If it goes away, I'll be...devistated!
I know tons of people who came to this site when it was younger, and, heck, come to this site often.
I wish I could help with anything. o 3o
