| Players: | 1 - 4 |
| Type: | Timing Mini-Game |
Speed Eaters is a timing mini-game where the player tries to gobble up more apples before the others. The sooner they react, the more food that gets gobbled down. However, in higher difficulties, the apples are sometimes bombs that will hinder the player. There are four players, with the additional roles filled by the CPU if not a human. The contest only earns a rank among the four and does not accomplish points, extra lives, or bonus.
The contest begins with the four participants eagerly staring at a covered food dish. After a varied amount of time, the lid will be removed, and the players can react. An empty, colored circle appears over each. If they react too soon, an X appears overhead and prevents them from acting that round. The dish can contain four apples or four bombs. All or more items go to the player who reacts the fastest. Apples fill the player's meter by one point. Bombs knock the player out for the next round, preventing their participation. The first player to reach a full meter, eight apples, is the winner.
A similar, although more involved, version of the game appears in Kirby Squeak Squad by the name Speedy Tea Time.
