Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

Kirby's first adventure on the Game Boy Advance was a remake of his only NES game, Kirby's Adventure, with updated graphics, music, and gameplay.
A lot is changed from the original game and new content is added in the form of several new sub-games and a multi player mode, very similar to the one found in Kirby Super Star except using different colored Kirbies instead of helpers.
The game had ties to the anime series, with the latter being based somewhat on the game's story using Nightmare.

Story
See the Kirbypedia article on Kirby's Adventure for more information
Kirby awakes after a uncomfortable sleep to discover that he can no longer dream. Upon further investigation, he discovers the same fate has befallen the rest of Dream Land as well. Kirby heads to the Fountain of Dreams to discover that not only was King Dedede bathing in its mystic waters, he had also broken the Star Rod, the source of power on Dream Land, into seven pieces, and given it to his cronies. Kirby then sets off on a quest to defeat Dedede's henchmen and restore power to the Fountain. But, little does Kirby know that a more sinister power is behind these events.
Features and Game Play
For the most part the game play is similar to that of the original game, but a notable change is the fact the game is never plagued by any slowdown that sometimes occurred in the NES version of the game. Kirby has all the same moves and copy abilities.
Levels
The game shares all of the same levels as KA, with improved graphics but many of them also have slight changes in scenery. (See Remake Differences)
See the Kirbypedia article on Kirby's Adventure for more information.
Mini-Games
- Kirby rides his Warp Star along colorful striped tracks with bumpy sections that must be avoided. The closer he is to avoiding them, the higher the score.
- Though it shares the name of the Quick Draw from Adventure, it's done in the style of Samurai Kirby from Kirby Super Star instead of old west cowboys.
- The most dangerous game of Hot Potato ever played. Four Kirbies use frying pans to fling a lighted bomb around. The last one standing wins.
- A brand new mode unlocked upon completing the regular and Extra games with 100%. Meta Knight becomes playable.
Remake Differences
Kirby's copy ability hats are used in this version, many of them similar to the Super Star versions, but others brand new. Some of his abilities are changed as well in slight ways. Backdrop becomes more like Suplex, dashing to grab enemies instead of inhaling like Throw, and Needle Kirby's spikes won't automatically retract.
The three Mini-Games were changed to utilize the GBA's 4-player multiplayer capabilities. One mini-boss, Rolling Turtle, was replaced by Phan Phan and two regular enemies.
Version Differences
The game's name in countries outside Japan was changed, no longer referencing the fact that it is a remake of Kirby's Adventure. The title of the game was 'Kirby of the Stars: Spring of Dreams Deluxe', with Adventure originally being 'Kirby of the Stars: Story of the Spring of Dreams' to make the relationship more obvious.
The box art on the English version tried to make much more of a reference to the anime series, using generic clip art of Fighter Kirby (despite Fighter not appearing in the game- unless they meant it to represent Backdrop) and Meta Knight. The commercial also used animation based on the anime designs (and was apparently animated by the same company.)
