Good news, Resorters! On September 1 at PAX Prime in Seattle, 536 Kirby fans teamed up and shattered that world record. The previous record was only 304! Here is a photo of all of the participants. Great job, everyone!
Continuing Kirby's birthday celebrations, Nintendo is now having a contest to see who Kirby's biggest fan is. Here, you can submit your proof... it can be almost anything, so get creative!
Nintendo has announced today that they are going to try to break a Guinness World Record on September 1 at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle. Since this year is Kirby's 20th anniversary, they are calling as many Kirby fans as they can get to one room to blow bubbles with gum simultaneously. Participants will not only (maybe) be a part of a Guinness World Record, but there will also be random prize giveaways for participants, including Kirby's Dream Collection, which won't be released until two weeks AFTER the event!

I encourage anyone that will be attending PAX to come contribute to this fun event! For the full details, see the full story below.

I'm also doing a promotion of sorts there, if you can find me there and mention KRR, I'll have a few Kirby themed goodies to give out. I'll be dressed in a Kirby's Dream Band pink shirt. Good luck!
The folks over at Game Art HQ have put together a fan art collection for Kirby's 20th birthday. I recognize some of the names involved in this, so thank you for contributing to this wonderful collection of pictures.

Thanks to Ray for showing me this.
Kirby's Dream Collection will be dropping in North America on September 16th! Mark your calendars!

It also has a virtual museum and timeline, as well as extra challenge stages done in Return to Dream Land's engine!
Japan's Coro Coro magazine recently revealed the games that will be part of Kirby's Dream Collection! They are as follows:

Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)
Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (Game Boy)
Kirby Super Star (SNES)
Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (SNES)
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)

Pretty solid lineup. I would've liked to have seen Super Star Stacker, since we never got that in the US, but this is a great collection regardless.

The game will also come with a soundtrack CD and a booklet of some sort (an art book, perhaps?). I'll post more details as they come in.

Thanks to FighteRKirby for letting me know about this.

edit 6/13: The collection will also have all-new minigames of some sort.
That Kirby 20th anniversary collection we've heard talks about is now officially called Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition. It will be released in the US in September. This news comes from Nintendo representatives at E3 this week.

With such a short time until its release, we should be hearing about which games are on it soon. We'll let everyone know as soon as we find out!
Nintendo has changed the Club Nintendo rewards around today. The reason I'm posting about this is because one of the new ones that has become available is Kirby Super Star! If you have a Wii you can download the Virtual Console version of it by trading 150 Club Nintendo coins. It's still fun! Some people even prefer it to Super Star Ultra.
For everyone with a 3DS out there, Kirby's Block Ball has been added to Nintendo's eShop (in the US). With a wonderfully catchy soundtrack and simple but fun gameplay, it's definitely worth the $3 asking price. I'm under the impression that many people skipped over this one back in the day, but now's your chance to pick it up again!

Just about an hour ago in a Nintendo Direct, Nintendo President Iwata announced that for Kirby's 20th anniversary, they will be releasing a Kirby Anniversary Collection for the Wii this year. Nintendo of America has also confirmed that they will be releasing this anniversary disk as well.

On a related note, Japan is finally getting the 3DS Classic Edtion of Kirby's Adventure this coming week on April 25th. I guess NoJ decided to hold out on it for this year.
For the most part the site has finally been repaired. Apparently we got hit by some sort of russian redirect malware. Google noticed the redirect and put us on the suspicious list for malware (hence the "known attack site" warning for firefox and chrome users), there's still some lingering issues that need fixed up, but everything except for the kirbypedia should be up and working. Please notify any of us if that's not the case. (The Kirbypedia has been bleeding out for a while, we finally took it off life support during this fiasco.) Additionally, if issues like this crop up again, I'm on twitter under the Diskmaster name, and you'll probably see me complain about it there.

Edit: Apparently cutenews comments are broken. Whoops.
The forum and other parts of the site are down following a hacking attempt. We're working on restoring those parts of the site that are down. We'll keep you updated as things come back.

Edit 1: Forums are back up. Oekaki is in progress now.

Edit 2 (by Disk): Oekaki is up, but we're temporarily using this url until a backend issue is solved. <s>Gallery is semi-busted but workable I think. Gonna try and fix that up tomorrow friday and see about getting us off the malware site list.</s>

Gallery is fixed up. Gonna submit the malware check tomorrow (late saturday) once everything is verified and working. -- Disk
I don't normally do this, but I just saw this a few minutes ago, and if you've been watching a certain pony show that's making the rounds, you HAVE to see this.
My Little Kirby: Inhaling is Magic (deviantArt) by ~jrk08004
More good news for 3DS owners:

The "Kabuki Kirby" episode of the Kirby cartoon, previously unavailable to US fans, is now available through the Nintendo Video app on 3DS. It's going to come out in two parts, and part 1 is up for free right now. No date has been announced for part 2, but I'll let everyone know if I hear anything.

(Thanks to FighteRKirby for letting me know about this!)
If you own a 3DS and use Nintendo's Club Nintendo rewards program, you can exchange 100 Club Nintendo coins for a digital copy of Kirby's Dream Land! This offer will only be available until January 31, when they will change the games you can receive to another set of four.
