I've noticed that any time anyone even mentions the word 'ROM' or 'import', you go on the warpath about how it's illegal and therefore wrong. Now, I don't disagree with that. I do, however, wonder why it's okay for you to have written several Kirby fan games, making unauthorized use of the Kirby franchise, with the RPG Maker program, which was illegally translated into English. I'm in no position to throw stones at you-- I have a number of MP3s of Kirby music-- but I do wonder if you're entirely clear on why you object to such things. (Me, I'm hoping Nintendo releases some sort of Kirby Classics disc, like Sega has done with Sonic, so I can legally own the previous Kirby games in one convenient format.)
KW: Fan games are pretty legal as long as there is no income being made. It's as simple as that. And frankly, I don't give a damn if RPG Maker was illegally translated, since apparently, the company is taking no measures to stop the distribution of the program as far as Nintendo goes with ROMs. I'm more lenient towards importing, but ROMs are a big no-no. Also, they HAVE released a "Best of Kirby" CD, however is is only available in Japan.

Clearly, it was forseen that even I would need to seek your wisdom, yes? Anyways question time. 1: I've been thinking for a while about the animé being used to market Kirby... and the poll of the animé's official site showed Clean to be the fan favorite of Kirby forms (mind you, this was conducted before Mirror, Hammer, or Bomb had been seen)... so why, if this show is meant for Kirby marketing, did they not use Clean Kirby in any new games? 2: Another one. I think that the reason Mirror hasn't been used lately is because in the latest Kirby games, he doesn't have the guard stance... and Reflect Guard kinda needs that in order to work, and being the safer way to reflect attacks, Mirror Kirby's just incomplete ithout it. Do you think that's true, or is there some other reason Mirror is so little used? 3: Why, if Kirby has had enemies that use brooms since the first game, did it take so long for HAL to give Kirby a chance to use that ability? 4: Here's a new one. Is the secret ability in KA removed from the NiDL version? Because if so, that sucks, because my NES has permanent PMS, and will typically only work right for about an hour... 5: What's the percentage chance of getting the Samus Aran or Mario statue using Stone Kirby in KSS? 6: You rule! 7: I think Celia Johnon's friend, when referring to Kirby self-destructing into tiny Kirbys, was talking about how Crash Kirby's attack worked back in KA... even though Kirby comes out undamaged, he looks like he selfdestructs, and compared to the size of him when he gathers the energy to explode (blame the NES graphics), the Kirbys flying and exploding all over the screen look small. 8: Not really much of a game question, but... how... How can you handle so many inquiries, as well as the flames and insults and other negative whatnot, and not go crazy. I admire you for that; what's your secret?
KW: 1. The favorite abilities in America and Japan are quite different. A lot of the powers you see in newer Kirby games aer among the more popular in Japan. Also, the anime seems to be used to market Kirby more in America than in Japan. In Japan, it was just a normal game to show cartoon, not some marketing ploy. 2. You're probably right about that. I don't see any other reason to leave out mirror. 3. I guess it never crossed Hal's minds until KDL3. 4. Yeah, it was "removed." More like, it's not there anymore. 5. I'm not sure exactly, but it's pretty low. 6. Why thank you ^_^ 7. Probably. Back then, a long time ago, I used to think Kirby just jumped around the screen a lot, but soon I noticed at the end of the attack, all the Kirbys go back into Kirby himself. I liked KA's crash. 8. I'm not sure. It's a pretty rough job, and I don't have much patience, so I dunno how I do it XD

Mr Kirby Warrior i have a question about nmid. when i check out some of the videos the powers work like in adventure but stall have the graphics of the gba game. here are the things- 1. you can backdrop an enemy more than once 2. Ice has a move like freeze instead of fire 3. hi jump dosent have a cape 4. laser has no hat and it comes from his hand 5. cuters are bigger and make a diff sound 6.mike kirb sing diff 7.levels are diff designs, landscapes and structures. 8. kirby screms when hes hit like ahhhh. Found it at www.nintendo.com
KW: Um, you do know that Nightmare in Dreamland is a remake of Kirby's Adventure, right? That's why there are a lot of similarities.
Zac
Hey, I got a question. If Kirby can suck up any enemy, why hasn't he sucked up King DeDeDe?
KW: Dedede's much too big.
Zac
It's so unfair. I've been banned from the message board. BANNED!! I only found the site 2 days ago. Is any one else having this problem??
KW: Well, maybe you should have read and followed the rules. A lot of people that go to the message boards, don't read the rules, and thus get banned, and then complain that it's "not fair!" What's not fair is how people waste the mods' and admins' time and patience by not reading the rules.

1 Question. Can you play as Meta-Knight in Kirby's Adventure like in Kirby Nightmare in dreamland?I'm just curious.
KW: No

Is Kirby very popular in Japan? I know he gets alot of bad press in the west, probably because he's so cute and loveable and society hates that in the west. I'm not sure if it's as bad in America as it is in the UK, but most people I know hate him. For no valid reason I might add. So is he loved by the majority in Japan, or is he still only liked by some?
KW: He's VERY popular and well known in Japan.

I don't know if this has been answered already, but how do you get Copy Ability in KSS: Milky Way Wishes? P.S. I'm glad that Shadow has decided to be 'normal'.
KW: In around the center of the map, there should be a green star about 25% of the size of the normal planets. Go on this star like you would go into any of the other levels.

I already sent you a letter about this, but I'm hoping to express myself more clearly in this one, so please just answer this one in your next mailbag. A number of people have asked you questions about ROMs or importing games, to which you've immediately responded that both are illegal and therefore wrong. Now, I'm not going to dispute that these actions are illegal, and I certainly agree that we should be buying Kirby games instead of pirating them, but I don't know if you're in the best position to be chucking stones. The Kirby's Rainbow Resort site has a lot of stuff on it that's illegal, or at least borderline. There are a lot of graphics and sounds ripped from Kirby games, shows, and soundtracks, and while the fanart and fanfic is less clearly a violation of Nintendo's intellectual property, they could still raise a stink about it if they wanted to. (Let's all take a moment to quietly thank them for not doing so. I'm sure they're aware of the site.) More to the point, you've contributed your own share to the illegality: your Kirby Warrior games. Not only could Nintendo get touchy about your unauthorized use of their characters (though I think the music's okay, as it's MIDI and not MP3-- I could be wrong, I'm not a lawyer), but you compound the offense by using a pirated hack of a Japanese RPG coding program. Naughty naughty. (waggles finger) I don't believe there's anything morally wrong with buying an import game (so long as it isn't a pirated copy), or using a ROM of which you actually have the cartridge or disk. It is illegal, though, so watch yourself, boys and girls-- and if you don't actually have the game, shame on you. Hm. I don't seem to have actually asked a question. Okay, here's one: where do you draw the moral line between 'okay to do, even if it's not legal' and 'definitely wrong' when it comes to Kirby stuff?
KW: Would you rather us follow all the rules and be able to only give everyone as little information as possible? I didn't think so.

on kirby's rainbow resort website for one of the cameos it said kirby was in earthbound as a cameo.... i have the game and have been all through it. where in the world is the cameo?! p.s. kirby and ness rock :)
KW: Well, maybe if you would have read what was said in the cameos section, you'd know where it is.
marioguy
Hey KW, this is my first time posting, but how did you play Kirby and the Amazing Mirror? You said that roms and importing is illegal. So where did you get it from? Okay bye. KILL SHADOW!!!! (the spammer not the sonic character)
KW: Oh ho, I never said I got the game.

Before i ask the following questions, i must explain that i have looked through previous questions and used the search engine, so if i've asked a repeat question, then i'm sorry and all that. Anyhow, those questions... 1. Concerning Top Ride (in Kirby Air Ride). I have been looking for the music to Top Ride for a while as part for a collection, so I have the music for the tracks Metal and Sky (from your sound archives) and for Grass, Fire and Sand (from the Very Best of Kirby 52 track CD). I was wondering where i could find the music for the Light and Water tracks in the same high quality kbps setting as on your sound archive. Any sense of direction would help a lot. Saying that perhaps you could put Light and Water onto your sound archive - i could help by providing you with the CD music, if you are interested that is. 2. May i ask where you get the game sound files from? Is it possible to get them from the game itself some how? (i've tried using line-in on a TV but this causes too much static and sounds crap) 3. I've seen that many people keep asking you about the secret ability in Kirby's Adventure. You should ask for a cheque from whomever really wants to know about the secret ability, and then when you have enough dosh, post the secret. It gives them what they want, and you a nice wad of cash. Nice idea, eh?
KW: 1. Sorry, I don't know where any MP3s are. 2. Well, some people extract them from the ROM. 3. That's a good idea, but I'm not that cruel ;D
tac da cat
ive got two qustions. 1:do you have a picture of the turbostar front, top, back, left, and right? 2: in KS, do you have to do the arena to unlock....whatever you need to unlock? if any of those are repeat qustions then.....sue me ;)
KW: 1. No. 2. Yes.
Kirby Warrior's Comments

I've gotten several people that say it's my job to keep track of questions that are already asked, not the peoples'. But guess what!? IT IS YOUR JOB!!! I'm not the one asking the questions, now am I?
