Kirby (untitled), once rumored to be called Legend of the Stars (a rough translation to the original Japanese Hoshi no Kaabii, although it is fitting given the mythical and elusive status), is a Kirby game that has been in development for half a decade! It began its years of never-releasing back on the Nintendo Game Cube, so that gives you an idea of how long it's been.

The game was first made known back at E3 2005, quite some time ago. At that time, a video demo was released that showed seemingly full game play, familiar faces, some new ones, and plenty of action. The game mimics Super Star in which abilities can be turned into helpers, only this game allows three to be created at once. On top of that, they can be stacked and ridden for nearly endless combinations.

After this point, talk on the game died down. A year later, it was said to have a release date. This passed, but another was set. This passed. Currently, at the end of 2008/early 2009, a game release schedule for the Wii slotted a vague entry of "Kirby (untitled) 2009" with no month attached to it, unlike the other games listed. This was reaffirmed in October with another release schedule still holding the same year for the still tenative title, which it of course failed to meet.

As time has shown in the past, if anything is proposed or tenative, don't hold your breath on anything actually happening. We're all hoping for it to come out some day, but let's be realistic here. The trends seen are not in our favor. Only get your hopes up when a definitive title and release date are given to the game. Screen shots from this year wouldn't hurt, either. Otherwise, this game is no different than Tilt 'n' Tumble 2 -- cancelled.

That being said, stop asking if there's any new news on the game. Rainbow Resort is the premiere English language Kirby fan site. The moment anything about the game is leaked, we'll plaster it all over the main page, not some dark corner. It's not like this site was made to hide information from the fans. Why would we keep it from you? No. There just is nothing being said about the game.

Don't believe me? Well, don't believe me, but trust other reputable sources then. That was written in December 2008. Nothing has changed.

On June 15th, 2010, E3 saw the announcement of Epic Yarn, a completely new and unrelated title for the Wii home console. The fate of the original title designed for the Game Cube is uncertain but is assumed passed over.
