Kirby's Epic Yarn is a 2D platforming adventure for the Wii home console, making it the first home console game for the pink puff since Air Ride and the first platformer for a non-hand held since Crystal Shards. It was announced June 15th, 2010 for release fall of this year.

The game features highly stylized graphics made of strings of yarn, fabric, buttons, zippers, and other textiles. Not only is this what constructs the game, but these elements are interacted with as threads can be tugged, zippers can be pulled, and cloth can be folded.

Familiar faces return, such as Waddle Dee and Bronto Burt, as well as several new enemies and bosses. Also featured is a companion for Kirby, a blueish counterpart with a crown and sour demeanor who serves as the helper/2nd player.

Kirby does not appear to have his traditional inhaling ability (oh no!) but gained the use of the yarn that makes up his body as a lasso to snag enemies and obstacles. His body is still as amorphic as ever. Jumping turns his feet into a spring while running turns him into a car. Other seen shapes include the familiar, a flying saucer, and new, a submarine.

As the game was just announced (June 15th, 2010), there is very little information outside of some screenshots and a movie. We here at Rainbow Resort will try to keep you up to date on the title as facts become available. Until then, enjoy the official Kirby's Epic Yarn game trailer at Nintendo.

The game does not appear to have any relation to the prior announced Kirby platforming title, Kirby (untitled) originally designed for Game Cube. At this point, we can only speculate that it finally bit the dust.
