A boss that Kirby fights in his game series. Whispy is often the first boss fought in the games he appears in.

Whispy is a large apple tree with two black holes for eyes, a pointed nose and another hole for a mouth. He is usually stationary and his primary means of attack is dropping large apples or trying to stab Kirby with sharp roots.

Games

Kirby's Dream Land

Whispy's first appearance was as the first boss of Kirby's Dream Land. He is the guardian of the Green Greens area of the game. His basic attack patterns appeared in this game. He shakes down apples from his branches, which Kirby can inhale and spit back at Whispy. He also has the ability to spit out air pellets, an ability Kirby himself would learn later on.

Whispy, along with the rest of the bosses fought in the game, is battled again at Mt. Dedede.

Kirby's Adventure

Whispy appears as the first boss and guardian of Vegetable Valley. His attack pattern is the same as it was in Dream Land.

Kirby's Pinball Land

Whispy is one of the three bosses of the game. When facing him, Kirby must be launched at his nose several times until Whispy gives in. Whispy drops Gordo that freeze the flippers on the pinball table temporarily.

Kirby's Dream Course

Whispy is not actually a boss in this game, he appears on courses as an obstacle. If Kirby collides with it, it will inflict damage and off set Kirby's path, sending him bouncing back. The Spark ability is the only way to dispose of the nuisance.

Kirby's Avalanche

Whispy Woods is fought as the fifth boss of the game, and the second opponent after the tutorial levels. He is average in difficulty.

Kirby's Dream Land 2

Whispy appears, yet again, as the first boss of the game. He appears at the end of Grass Land. His attack pattern is similar to previous games. However, this marks the first appearance of his "root attack", where Whispy brings his sharp roots out of the ground to try to impale Kirby.

Kirby's Block Ball

Whispy is a stationary boss, the only one in this game, who appears in the eighth level. From the center of the screen, it blows puffs of air at Kirby, only downward, and drops Gordo. Either of these stuns the paddles. After twelve hits, it is defeated.

Kirby Super Star

Whispy Woods appears in the sub-game, Spring Breeze, which is a miniature remake of Kirby's Dream Land. As such, Whispy's attack pattern is the same as it is in Dream Land.

In addition, both Whispy and another variation of him appear in the sub-game, Revenge of Meta Knight. This variation is called Twin Woods and, essentially, is two Whispy Woods facing each other, connected by their branches. Twin Woods has several more attacks than Whispy, including dropping Gordos and a battle-specific worm enemy. The Twin Woods can also throw segments of their body at Kirby.

Both Whispy Woods and Twin Woods appear in The Arena.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

Whispy appears as the boss of Grass Land. His attack pattern is the same as it is in Dream Land. Whispy first appears with swirly eyes and an add mask over his nose and mouth.

Once his health bar is depleted, Whispy revives with his evil, Dark Matter possessed nature shown, wearing a vicious face, his eyes slanted and mouth full of sharp teeth. He then uproots himself and begins to chase after Kirby, spewing rotten vegetables from his mouth. After defeating this form, Whispy is truly beaten.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Whispy Woods appears again as the boss of Pop Star. Whispy is fought around a circular dirt pathway, which Kirby can walk on. At first, Whispy only drops apples and leaves the fighting to his three miniature saplings, Whispy Woods Jr. After they are defeated, Whispy will become enraged. He uses an attack method similar to that of Kirby's Dream Land 2. In addition, Whispy can throw more apples from his branches at once than usual.

The only way to harm Whispy is to wait until he uses his "Root attack", leaving four large roots out in front of Kirby's path. Kirby must then exhale a star or use a Copy Ability on the roots to deal damage to Whispy. After his defeat, Whispy drops a Crystal Shard.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

Whispy appears as the first boss. This game is a remake of Kirby's Adventure, and as such, has Whispy's attack method from that game.
