Great Cave Offensive

When Treasure Chests first appeared, they were a bonus to be sought out while completing the regular game. A total of sixty chests were scattered throughout the game that contained treasures totally 9,999,990 gold. These had no impact on the game other than earning a 100% completion rating.

Kirby & the Amazing Mirror

The Treasure chests locked away items that were not vital to game play but could greatly help. Outside of helpful items such as Pep Brew, 1UP, Maxim Tomato, and general Food, Kirby could also find a Musical Score, Sound Player, Vitality Piece, or Spray Paint. Inside of unusually large Treasure Chests, Kirby could find the Secret Map of a location.

When a room was cleared of all possible chests, it would glow brightly.

Kirby Squeak Squad

Unlike in previous appearances, Kirby would not open a chest in levels, but rather after the Goal Game. In order to get that chance he would have to hold it in the Copy Palette until the end of the level, and avoid it being stolen from attacking Squeaks. The first time Kirby collects a chest, they will contain items to be added to his collection, such as Musical Scores, a Sound Player, Vitality Piece, Spray Paint, pieces of the Ghost Medal or Secret Map, or pieces of artwork. If Kirby goes through a course again and collects a chest he previous acquired, he would obtain a useful bubble item, either food or an ability.
