Appearance
Ribbon is a short fairy with light pink hair, red bow and dress, and yellow buttons and shoes.
Background
On the planet Ripple Star, fairies reside peacefully with a giant Crystal Shard they guard as their precious treasure. Without warning, a dark cloud appeared with the intention of stealing or destroying the shard.
While most of the faeries were running around frantically, Ribbon instead grabbed onto the shard. With the shard, Ribbon launched herself with it into space hoping to flee with it safely, just as the dark clouds began to completely engulf the planet.
Ribbon flew as fast as she possibly could with the shard, but the dark clouds followed her relentlessly. As more started to surround her, they finally knocked into the shard, shattering it into pieces and sending it, along with Ribbon, plummeting into the solar system below. Ribbon was fortunate and landed on the planet Popstar, where a star gazing Kirby saw her fall. As Ribbon begins to regain her composure, she begins to plea for help, and Kirby agrees to take on the quest in retrieving the pieces of the crystal shard.
Kirby 64
Ribbon is a silent ally, in that she hardly does much besides stick to Kirby's side and hold the shards as he collects them. She contributes no abilities or gameplay help until the final battle of the game with 02, by holding Kirby up while he fires at 02.
During cutscenes between planets, Ribbon is usually an observer rather than a participant.
Personality
Ribbon has proven to be brave, loyal, and playful. In addition to single handedly rescuing her planet's greatest assest, she remains steadfast on finding the shards even after they have been shattered. Several cutscenes of the game have shown Ribbon coaxing Kirby to continue on his quest, and at the completion of the game she awards Kirby with a kiss which makes him blush and fall down the Ripple Star Palace stairs.
Trivia
- In the cutscenes Ribbon is always the first to enter the gate to a new planet, except for "Ripple Rescue" where she picks up Kirby after everyone has stepped on him to scramble for the gate.
- In the "Desert Desserts" cutscene where a starving Kirby begins to see everyone as food, he sees Ribbon as a flying strawberry.
- Also in "Desert Desserts", everyone can be found eating something except Ribbon.
- In the All Washed Up" cutscene, everyone is throwing stones into the water, except Ribbon.
- In the incomplete ending, "Fare...well?" Ribbon will shake hands with Kirby, instead of kissing him as she does in "Crystal Clear", the complete ending.
