Appearance
Mr. Shine is the moon. He is a yellow crescent that wears a scowl. A thin pair of arms and legs stick off his body ending in rounded gloves and shoes. His shape is always arranged so that the two cusps face forward.
Mr. Bright is the sun. He is a burning, orange orb with a mean expression. He has a thin pair of arms that end in white gloves but no legs. Depending on the game, his flames are either concentrated and pulled upward or are distributed radially about his body.
Games
Kirby's Adventure
The two serve as the Bosses at the Butter Buildings. They work in shifts. As one of them fights Kirby on the ground, the other one takes to the sky to attack from above. If Kirby gets to high up, the higher of the pair will hone in to his location to make sure he gets back down.
Mr. Shine throws boomerangs at Kirby when he is on the ground. In between throwing, he jumps about and rolls forward. When he is up, he causes stars to fall out of the sky. If swallowed, they grant the Cutter ability.
Mr. Bright launches out fireballs when down. In between, he dashes forward in a fiery charge and jumps about. When soaring above, the sun will stream down a column of fire at Kirby. As it strikes the ground, it spurts up stars at its edges. If Kirby eats them, they will give him the Fire ability.
They pair use separate life meters. When one is defeated first, they turn cracked and broken and can no longer go to the ground to fight Kirby.
Kirby's Dream Course
The heavenly duet only make an appearance in the 2 Player game. When their day/night switch is activated, all of the stars' ownership changes hands, giving them to the other player's possession. The panel can only be activated a number of times before it permanently stays set to night for the given course.
Kirby's Avalanche
This duo makes up the thirteenth competitor that must be challenged in the Ghost Trap competition.
Kirby's Block Ball
The celestial duo appear as the leaders to the fifth level. The battle begins with Mr. Shine, who appears before the Warp Star on the previous stage. He travels in an elliptical path clockwise in the middle of the screen. Occasionally, he throws out a handful of boomerangs to cut the paddles down to size.
Halfway through the life bar, Mr. Bright takes over. Bright walks a straight path left and right in the center of the screen. He throws out fireballs to take out the paddles.
Kirby's Dream Land 2
The duo act as the Bosses at the Red Canyon. While one attacks on the ground, the other patrols the sky. It is the same strategy they use in every game.
The strategies and tactics they use are identical to their behavior in Adventure; however, they do not grant any Copy Abilities with their ammo.
Additionally, the two work together to perform a combination attack. They spin around one another and then stop to lock in a position. Mr. Bright then releases a powerful blast that will affect everywhere on the screen except where Mr. Shine is eclipsing.
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright make another appearance... sorta. While the actual pair do not come back for another shot at Kirby, Ado paints up a rough replica of the duo on a canvas and brings them to life. Here, they are very simplistic in nature. They are only their basic shapes, a sphere and a crescent, with faces and balls for hands.
One takes to the ground as the other takes to the sky and fires down attacks. One of them will follow Kirby while the other slowly and mindlessly bounces between the edges of the screen. Occasionally, they alter places as long as one remains undefeated. In this game, they have no combination attacks either.
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
In this remake, the pair appear just as they were in Adventure.
