An action game developed originally for the Gamecube, its development was later moved to the Wii. After several years of no concrete information, Kirby's Epic Yarn was shown at E3 2010; it was assumed that Kirby Wii was canceled, but the following year's expo showed that the game was back on track for release in 2011. As revealed in an installment of Iwata Asks, Return to Dream Land is actually and amalgamation of three aborted Kirby projects.

Footage and screenshots were shown of the game. The Helper system would have made a return, but with an option to have three of them at once, to be controlled by human players or the computer. A feature also shown would allow Kirby and Helpers to 'stack up' on top of each other.
