Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
From Kirbypedia
Go to the KRR page for this game! [1]
Kirby's first new platform adventure since Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards features a whole new world and a new way to explore it. Instead of having seperate levels played in a linear fashion, all of the levels are interconnected in one massive, confusing maze. But the basic style of game play is still the same, with Kirby running, floating, and devouring his enemies.
Kirby is also joined by duplicates of himself in multiple colors, who can be summoned with a special cell phone that must be charged in order to use it. Kirby's Copy Abilities are here in full force, with a couple of fun new abilities like Cupid and Magic. In addition, there are many treasures and secrets to find scattered throughout the mysterious Mirror World.

Story
In the skies above Dream Land is a golden mirror- the entrance to the dream-like Mirror World. It is said that any wish reflected in the mirror will come true.
But one day, it began being influenced by evil wishes, and the Mirror World was in danger of being overcome by darkness. Meta Knight noticed what was happening and took off into the sky to save the Mirror World. However, when he reached the mirror, something awful happened.
Back on land, Kirby was enjoying a nice stroll when a strange pitch-black Meta Knight came down from the sky. Before Kirby could react he was slashed- and split into four different colored versions of himself! The black Meta Knight escaped, and the four Kirbies decided to chase after, following him into the Mirror World.
There they saw a battle between two Meta Knights- the one they knew, and the black Meta Knight that had attacked them. The second Meta Knight was Dark Meta Knight, created when the mirror copied Meta Knight's dark side. They fought, but Dark Meta Knight won, sending Meta Knight into another mirror where he was trapped within. Dark Meta Knight then divided the mirror into eight fragments before escaping.
Kirby must retrieve the fragments to rescue Meta Knight and save the Mirror World from evil. But he isn't alone- he has three of himself to help, and there is the mysterious Shadow Kirby, whose allegiance is unknown.
Features and Game Play
The main goal is to find the eight Mirror Shards, each guarded by a different boss. They can be fought in varying order. Typically certain abilities and such are needed to get to new areas, making it impossible to go anywhere at any time.
Inhale
While Kirby maintains most of his usual moves, his inhale is changed- he can no longer do it forever! In older games, Kirby would inhale for as long as the button was held, but in this he will stop after a few moments.
In addition, his inhale has two levels of power. The regular level which is good for inhaling normal blocks and enemies, and a super inhale which works against a new larger type of enemy and blocks.
Another new feature is that if Kirby is on an incline, he can suddenly start tumbling down it out of control- but he'll damage enemies he hits.
Heave-Ho Blocks
Instead of just the regular yellow and orange star blocks that are common throughout the games, this one adds new gray star blocks that are much heavier. So heavy that Kirby can't inhale them- he can only use his inhale to slowly move them.
There are regular sized stone blocks and giant ones- those ones need the combined inhaling power of all the Kirbies or they won't move an inch. (Good luck getting them all to cooperate.) Alternatively, Kirby can use a room- shaking ability (such as Burning) to move the blocks.
The main new feature of the game is the level layout. There is a central room with multiple doors. At first only one door is accessible, but traveling through it will eventually unlock new areas which can be returned to once their doors have been discovered.
Too Many Kirbies
Kirby is split into four people- the regular pink Kirby, a red one, a yellow one, and a green one. Normally the other Kirbies are controlled by the computer, and will usually follow Kirby, but most of the time they just wander around and get lost.
However, if you have friends with their own GBAs and copies of this game, when you hook them up you can play the game together with up to four players.
Cell Phone
Kirby's cell phone serves two functions. One is to summon his Warp Star no matter where he is, warping him back to the main room. The other is to call the other Kirbies. This is especially useful against bosses, as they will appear from wherever they were, often bringing healing items and copy abilities. The other Kirbies are often needed to get past certain spots, so calling them is crucial.
However, the cell phone needs batteries, which can often be easily found throughout the levels. It has a max of three uses before it needs recharging.
Treasures
To get 100% in the game, all of the treasures must be found. A plethora of items are hidden away in treasure chests, from simple healing items and 1UPs to special power-ups and bonuses. This feature would later serve as a focus in Kirby Squeak Squad.
Spray Paint - Tired of boring old pink Kirby? Paint him! There are fourteen different color combinations you can find.
Map - When in a maze, maps are extremely useful. Find these in order to have an easier trip. There is one map for each of the nine levels, as well as a world map that offers a broader view of the Mirror World.
Sound Player and Musical Score - If you want to hear the soundtrack, you need to find these first! The music sheets each contain a few different tracks. There are ten to collect in all.
Vitality Piece - This rare power-up adds an extra point to Kirby's maximum vitality. There are a total of four hidden throughout the levels.
Levels
- Central Circle
- The main room composed of clouds, containing the mirror itself and all of the doors leading to the other levels.
- Rainbow Route
- The first level Kirby enters, Rainbow Route has no boss of it's own. It is divided into a Forest, Cave, Conifer and Mountain sections. Each of these sections will lead Kirby to further levels.
- Moonlight Mansion
- Boss: King Golem
- Going through the Forest route takes Kirby into a spooky, dark mansion in an old, dead forest.
- Cabbage Cavern
- Boss: Moley
- Venturing through the Cave route leads Kirby to a vast subterranean complex. Don't get lost underground!
- Mustard Mountain
- Boss: Kracko
- The Mountain route takes Kirby to higher altitudes. During his ascent up the mountain, he finds that he is actually scaling a volcano.
- Carrot Castle
- Boss: Mega Titan
- Through the Alpine route, Kirby will come across a fairly nice looking castle. However, it is ruled over by a hostile mechanical creature.
- Olive Ocean
- Boss: Gobbler
- A deep ocean in the tropical south of the Mirror World. Aquatic enemies are plentiful here.
- Peppermint Palace
- Boss: Wiz
- From Carrot Castle, Kirby can find this icy palace that is full of danger and treasures alike.
- Radish Ruins
- Boss: ? ? ?
- Located south of the two castles is a series of ruins worn by time. Awaiting at the end of this ancient labyrinth is a seemingly familiar foe.
- Candy Constellation
- Boss: Master Hand and Crazy Hand
- From the tall mountain Kirby can reach space itself! Candy Constellation is a fantastic place of stars, UFOs and strange structures in the sky.
- Dimension Mirror
- Boss: Dark Meta Knight and Dark Mind
- If all eight Mirror Shards are found, the mirror will become whole again, allowing Kirby to face the evil ones trying to take over the Mirror World.
Mini Games
- Goal Game
- Despite the non-linearity of the levels, sometimes Kirby can find the 'end' of one where he'll enter a special bonus game. He'll hop on his Warp Star and fly upwards for a certain amount of time. He can collect food, batteries, or 1UPs. However, heave-ho blocks appear as well and they must be avoided.
- Speed Eaters
- The four Kirbies gather around a covered dish that will open suddenly to reveal a tasty treat- or a bomb. The first to eat the most food wins.
- Crackity Hack
- This new version of Megaton Punch follows the same idea- hit the buttons at the right time to split the ground!
- Kirby Wave Ride
- Kirby rides his Warp Star over shimmering waters, using waves to launch himself higher and faster.
- Boss Endurance
- Fight all the bosses, one after the other.
