Kirby's Dream Land 3 is the last of Kirby’s US games for the Super Nintendo as well as the last of the Dream Land titles. This game introduces four more of Kirby's friends, and although the game has only Kirby’s most basic copy abilities, Kirby can use his animal friends to expand upon these copy abilities to create new attacks. This concept is also used in Kirby’s Dream Land 2.

There are fewer levels in Kirby’s Dream Land 3 than there were in Kirby’s Dream Land 2, but many levels and bosses from Kirby’s Dream Land 2 make a return in this game. The graphics for the game are drawn in a crayon- like style, which is different from most of Kirby’s other games.

Story

The simple monotony of Kirby and Gooey fishing on a delightful sunny day is broken when Dark Matter comes to Dream Land once more, this time threatening all of Pop Star. As the planet falls prey to Dark Matter's possession, Kirby gathers his friends and sets out to save the day once more.

Features and Game Play

Kirby’s Dream Land 3 shares somewhat similar game play with Kirby’s Dream Land 2. Kirby’s basic moves and copy abilities remain the same, and like in Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Kirby can combine abilities with his helpers to create new attacks.

In each level, there is a certain task that Kirby must perform (a hint to the task is shown on the level’s icon) to get an item called a heart star. Kirby must collect all of the heart stars to gain access to the game’s final boss. Usually, Kirby needs an ability or friend (or both) to perform these tasks. Sometimes he only needs to get through a level without stepping on flowers/mushrooms or successfully complete a mini-game. Kirby also gets a heart star for defeating a level’s boss.

Friends

Kirby’s Dream Land 3 adds three more of Kirby’s friends: Nago, Pitch, and Chuchu, plus Gooey returns to fight alongside the pink puff. Kirby can pair up with his newer Animal Friends to create new ability attacks. Gooey can be controlled by a second player and can even use the same copy abilities as Kirby. Gooey can be brought into play by pressing the “A” button at the cost of some of Kirby’s vitality. Like in Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's animal friends have certain skills that only they can use.

Rick the Hamster
This fur ball rules the land and never loses his step on sand or ice.
Coo the Owl
This master of the sky can fly against strong winds.
Kine the Ocean Sunfish
This aquatic king allows Kirby to both inhale and spit when underwater.
Gooey the Blob
Even though he's made of Dark Matter, this guy only wants to help Kirby by imitating him.
Nago the Cat
This friendly feline can perform a triple jump in the air.
Chuchu the Octopus
This female friend can stick to ceilings and almost fly, but she can't suck.
Pitch the Bird
This little fellow boosts what abilities Kirby has and can fly pretty well.

Levels

There are the total of six levels, but one of them is only the final battle against Dark Matter. Each of the five actual levels is found on one of the five points of Pop Star. Each one is comprised of six separate stages with a boss battle at the end. Additionally, each stage has a resident who needs something and is willing to give a Heart Star to anyone who offers.

1) Grass Land
Boss-Whispy Woods
A lush, green land full of rolling hills and easy breezes.
2) Ripple Field
Boss- Acro
This water trodden terrain will leave Kirby all wet.
3) Sand Canyon
Bosses- Pon and Con
A dry, dusty wasteland with craggy mountains, too.
4) Cloudy Park
Bosses- Ado with Sweet Stuff, Ice Dragon, Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright, & Kracko
A magical land above the clouds and other really, really high up places.
5) Iceberg
Boss- King Dedede
A frozen land full of perils and slippery footing.
6) Hyper Zone
Bosses- Dark Matter & 0
High up in Pop Star's atmosphere is where the final battle will take place.

Dark Matter vs. Pop Star's Rings Chronology Theory
Someone thinks there's something behind Dark Matter and ring numbers. Is it a conspiracy? I don't know.
