A mini-game in Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble.
Kirby must run as fast as he can to beat Dedede in a race and jump over any hurdles that are in his way. Hitting a hurdle will slow him down considerably, so it is important to get over every one. He gets three tries to beat Dedede before the game is over. If Kirby can manage to beat Dedede, he will earn 1UPs.
Repeatedly tapping the “A” button will make Kirby run. When he gets near a hurdle, flip the Game Boy to make him jump. If the “A” button is tapped at the right moment after the countdown, Kirby gets a boost of speed for the take off. Press it too early, and it will cause a false start. If Kirby has two false starts in a row, he automatically loses that turn.
The mechanics for this mini-game easily make it the hardest one to win. Since the “A” button must be tapped quickly, it can easily be pressed with too much force and cause the Game Boy to shake. This can set off the Tilt Sensor, making Kirby jump. This quite often results in Kirby jumping into a hurdle and losing the race.
