Hard Block

| English Name: | Hard Block |
| Japanese Name: | 固いブロック Katai Burokku Hard Block |
| First Game: | Kirby's Adventure |
| Type: | Block |
Special block items in Kirby games that can only be busted with certain copy abilities.
Gray Blocks are more durable than a regular Star Block. Their sleek, metallic makeup allows them take more of a beating. If hit with anything other than a powerful attack, the only result will be an odd sound.
They also appear in Kirby's puzzle games. Hard Blocks are more durable than the regular blocks encountered. They do not vanish with the first attempt. Instead, when they are sandwiched between two like Friend Blocks, the Hard Block transforms into a Star Block rather than be eliminated, requiring them to be dealt with twice.
In order to break a Gray Block in a regular platform game, one of the following abilities must be used:
- Burning
- Hammer
- Missile
- Smash (only the hammer and stone attacks)
- Stone
- Throw (only the projectile, not the suction)
- UFO (only the fully charged shot)
- Master
Often these blocks must be destroyed to reach hidden areas and switches.
Blocks of similar properties appeared in Kirby's Adventure, but they could be any color. They are, essentially, the same obstacle with a different appearance.
