Green Greens is probably the most memorable level in all of Kirby's game series. It started as the first level in the classic Kirby's Dream Land and was brought back in shortened form in Kirby Super Star and even Super Smash Bros. Melee. However, the music of Green Greens has been at least represented in almost every Kirby game.

Description

Green Greens is a field and forested area that is very green, of course. The field is abundant in flowery grasses. The hills in the area are shaped like semi-ovals, and are populated with a few trees. Some more sharp hills serve as storage areas. It is also inhabited by a small butterfly population, a large Waddle Dee, Bronto Burt, and Twizzy population, and very few Poppies. The forest area is thick with green trees, wooden structures and platforms.

Games

Kirby’s Dream Land

The Green Greens level in Kirby’s Dream Land is split into two parts. The first part is the field, in which Kirby’s begins. After walking a bit, he is horded by Waddle Dees, puffballs similar to Kirby, Twizzies, and Bronto Burts, angry flying puffballs. At the bottom of a small ledge is an object that appears to be a mushroom skipping about, called a Cappy, and hill with a door that says “In” over it. Inside the door are two “Pep Brews” that can restore half of his health.

As he continues down the path, in the middle of a bundle of various enemies, he encounters a little elf-like boy wearing an elf hat, called a Poppy Bros Jr. Soon after, Kirby jumps on a star called a warp star and goes into the forest area. Upon entry, Kirby is attacked by a large version of the Poppy, called Poppy Bros. Sr., who throws bombs and jumps on Kirby. After defeating the Poppy, Kirby encounters a bear with a headband called Grizzo. Soon after the Grizzo, Kirby enters a tall tree. Inside the tree, Kirby is attacked by all the Green Greens enemies. Close to the top of the tree is an item called a Maxim Tomato, which heals Kirby fully.

As Kirby leaves the door at the top of the tree, he enters a battle with a living tree named Whispy Woods. Whispy spits clouds and drops apples on Kirby. After Kirby defeats him with the apples, he collects a Sparkling Star and continues onward to Castle Lololo.

Kirby's Adventure

Green Greens appears in greatly shortened form in one of the levels of Rainbow Resort. Otherwise, everything is the same, including the music- it's even in black and white just like on the Game Boy! (Though Kirby is in color and stands out a bit.)

Kirby Super Star

In Spring Breeze, Green Greens again returns as a shortened version of the original one, but with a graphical update. Also, with the addition of abilities, the field area contains a few Waddle Doos and the Poppies throw bombs. This version really give a better view of the bright color of the field and the forest.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

The Green Greens stage is one of the two original Kirby-based stages in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The idea of the air puffing Whispy Woods continued from the original game, but now there are three islands that are connected with Star Blocks. The players can break the blocks to their advantage and to the enemy’s disadvantage.
