Kirby Squeak Squad

Dark Nebula is the ruler of the underworld, or lord of darkness depending on the version, who was imprisoned in a treasure chest that was entrusted to King Dedede prior to the events of Kirby Squeak Squad. The Squeak Squad steals the chest, believing it to contain ultimate power, only to be followed by Kirby, who believes the chest contains his missing strawberry shortcake. After Kirby defeats Daroach on Ice Island, Meta Knight, who knows the truth about Dark Nebula, takes the treasure chest to the Halberd in the Secret Sea to prevent it from being opened. After the battle between Kirby and Meta Knight, the Halberd rises into space and Meta Knight is defeated. Daroach then appears and opens the treasure chest, releasing Dark Nebula. Dark Nebula then covers the area in an eerie fog, possessing Daroach and flying away into space, through the Gamble Galaxy. Kirby battles and defeats Dark Daroach, in which Dark Nebula leaves Daroach's body and battles Kirby itself.

Dark Nebula is fought on a strange crystalline platform in space. Prior to the battle Kirby is supplied with Daroach's scepter, giving access to the Triple Star ability. Triple Star isn't required, however, as Kirby may use any ability or food item in his Copy Palette.

It battles by flying around the screen and shooting stars at Kirby in a variety of ways. It can fly across the top of the screen and shoot as it flies, fly to a corner of the bottom of the screen and shoot straight across, go to the middle of the top of the screen and shoot down in an arc, or can shoot from an upper corner of the screen to the opposite lower corner.

When the battle starts, Dark Nebula will transform into one of three forms, each with its own color scheme and elemental attack. Dark Nebula can change between these forms at will, going to the top center of the screen. The forms are Fire, Ice, and Electricity.

In its Fire form, Dark Nebula will change from a solid black star to a red star with a fire pattern on it. Its Fire form allows it to summon a fire ball from the middle of the top of the screen. The fire ball will slowly descend to the ground, creating a giant pillar of fire and inflaming the ground when it does. The fireball can be destroyed, but not inhaled. The background is given a red hue in this form.

In its Ice form, Dark Nebula will become light blue with a star pattern. It slowly travels across the top of the screen, firing an ice beam towards the ground to freeze all that come into contact with it, including the floor itself. The background is given a blue hue.

In its Electric form, Dark Nebula is green with lightning coursing through it. It will emit four electric shots to the corners of the screen, which in turn electrify the edges of the screen for a moment. The background has a green hue when Dark Nebula is in this form.

Trivia

Dark Nebula shares many similarities with fellow final bosses Dark Matter and 0, including appearance, name, and the ability to posses others. However, no direct statement ever linked the other enemies to Dark Nebula.
