Revenge of the Fan Fiction
Hey guys. I know things are a bit tough around the site lately, but just hang tight. We've got some cool things planned and are working to the best of our abilities to get them together.

In the mean time, why not try reading our latest fanfic? It's called Revenge of the Sir Kibble and was written by BabyCharmander, who also gave us Spring Tornado and Dynabladeknight. If you read those two stories, you're sure to enjoy this one, as it's the next chapter in the continuing adventures of Cutter the Sir Kibble and Dagger the Blade Knight. And if you haven't read them yet, check them out! They're fun reads.

Don't forget, if you have a fan fiction submission, just email me about it.

Status Report
As I'm sure you're all aware, things have been sort of rocky around here lately. You all deserve to know what's going on, so I'm going to try to cover some of what's going on around here.

First, as I'm sure you've noticed, Passport is gone from the site-- we're working on replacing it with CuteNews again. What this means for you guys is that you'll have to register an account again. We're sorry about this. CuteNews is a little different from Passport, but it should serve you pretty well in most ways.

One thing we are working on right now is tweaking CuteNews so that it can do some of the same stuff that Passport did before, like direct replies to comments and Mailbag integration. Outside of CuteNews, we're working on updating the frontpage showcase, too. In the future, we're planning to have lots of stuff in there, more than just gallery pictures-- things like fan games and fiction in addition to the wonderful art.

The last part of today's update is about Ometon. I'm sure everyone has noticed he hasn't been on the front page lately, but after talking recently, he has decided to step down for personal reasons. We thank him for his contributions over the years and wish him luck with whatever else he decides to work on.

We'd also like to thank you all for visiting and participating around the site. Without the fans, we'd be nothing!

Oekaki/Forums downtime
The oekaki and forums will be down due to technical difficulties over the next few hours. I'll update this page when they are back in working order!

UPDATE: Maintenance is done, thanks for the patience.

Mailbag Returns to Rainbow Resort
While we're gonna be hammering away in the back, have a new mailbag.

I'm afraid passport might be a goner, as it has been suddenly replaced by CuteNews without any notice. We may or may not be able to salvage everyone's logins.

Kirby Mass Attack Subgames
They're going all out on them this time around. I believe most of you saw the Shoot'em up on the E3 trailer. The JP site revealed 3 more of them earlier, and they look pretty darn amazing.

Kirby Wii Impressions from Comic Con
After spending the weekend at San Diego's Comic Con International, Diddgery and myself have some impressions on Nintendo's Kirby Wii demo there!

The demo was just a single level, but it allowed for players to jump in or out of the action at any time. The sample level allowed players to use a large number of Kirby's normal abilities, including the "super inhale" which is done by shaking the Wii Remote while holding 1.

The demo also had an enemy with the super-fire power! When Kirby inhales this enemy, he gains the ability to summon a giant fire dragon that burns any trees on the screen. It has a limited number of uses, however, indicated by a meter below Kirby's health bar.

The other three players can choose to be either Meta Knight, King Dedede, or a Waddle Dee with a bandanna and a spear. They all have their own moves, with Dedede obviously being similar to how Hammer Kirby behaved in other games, even retaining some of the same moves from Super Star.

Meta Knight played like a cross between the Wing ability and the Sword ability from Super Star. Each wing flap causes a bit of damage to nearby enemies, and Meta Knight has many sword techniques available, including his tornado spin attack from his boss fights! He can also use a Shuttle Loop ability like his recovery move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Waddle Dee was a fan favorite, having many quick poking moves with his spear. He can also charge up his attacks to unleash a spinning spear attack over his head (like helicopter blades) that allows him to hover.

All characters can also share food with other characters, like in Super Star, as well as hang off the feet of flying friends. When on the ground, characters can also ride on the backs of the others.

edit: User Buggzy_Shogun has informed me that there was another level on the demo that I didn't get to try. So jealous! It apparently contains the Ultra Sword ability.

He also reminded me of these strange bonus areas that you can find through these black star portals, which are hidden behind objects in the level. The one I played was a automatically scrolling zone, with what seems to be parts for those ships we've been seeing at the end!
