Koi-mono1642 views(Also known as the Koi-sode) Well, another semester of art college comes to a close. This outfit is based on my final project, a piece of wearable art- designed, sewn, and painted by myself. For the holiday of Japanese Children's Day, I have combined a fish-shaped kimono/kosode with the pattern of "Koinobori", Carp-streamer-windsocks. Also, the appearence of my sorta-fan-character has changed to reflect the impact of my training. Can you spot all references to Kirby's past and present, among others? Drawn in pencil, inked in brush-marker, and colored in felt tips.
(Well now that it's finally been posted, I can continue my comments)
~Now is that Gratitude, or is it really love? Some kind of reality, that fits just like a glove. Now is that Gratitude, for everything I've done? Or is it something else, that's got me on the run.~
What is this!? No longer can I instantly upload? No more #5 Gold Kirbies on my ratings? Who am I? I am not afraid to state, that I'm not particularly fond of the current state of KRR. Though I hate to admit it, I feel like the site is becoming the same stale shell of itself it was before a certain “rebirth” of humor and creativity, which has since passed, sad to say. This “renaissance” was what motivated me to get involved with the site in the first place, instead of just lurking as I'd done for years before, and it pains me to see all the witty efforts (including some of my own) having been buried by the dust of passive conformity. As I have displayed in art college, it is not enough to settle for mediocrity, you must not compromise your skilled potential for the easier path. Constantly push yourself farther, raise the bar for standards, and lead others through good example, and no doubt prosperity will flourish. The new KRR needs to take a clue from the past few years and give the viewers something they would really enjoy, in a way that incorporates the individual, and encourages others to join in, too. DO THIS, instead of activities which are ultimately just vainglorious attempts of self promotion by the few to many faceless titled-staff. Be steamed at me all you want, but first look at yourselves and see it you are really doing all you can for this great website. If so, you will really not have time to spare on me...
Yeah, I've had a bunch of art in the works for the site for a long while now. New sculptures, big drawings, picture scrolls, pic-fics, etc. Now that it's summer, I actually have the time to get some of that out here. However, I'm not sure if I really want to now. Simply put, I've lost the motivation. I still have my passion for Kirby, of course, but the site isn't exactly welcoming to me at this time. I guess I am partially to blame, having been out of the picture for so many months, but there is no excuse. Whatever happens, I wish all kirby fans the best of luck in the future.

Mischief Knight & Moon Knight1996 viewsThankyou, Bimblesnaff, for waiting for me all these months, so that I may finish my creations for the latest IF contest, before you drop the guillotine. I didn't see the submit option, but I didn't see anything saying there couldn't still be more submissions, so here are the two of mine, surely to be winners. I have been planning these guys since friggin' September of last year, but could only now finish, due to art-college. I humbly ask you may accept my entries. ~Daimyo.
**Mischief Knight**
Named after the night before Hallows Eve, Mischief Knight is Pop Star's biggest prankster (even more-so than Prank, himself). This puff-ball is violet in color and wears a mask of a halved jack-o-lantern. His yellow eyes peer through the pumpkin's mouth, like fangs- giving him a false-face, similar to Bukiset. His armor consists of pure season's sweets; the shoulders are made of mini chocolate peanut butter cups, while the shoes are candy corn colored. Protruding from the back of his head are two floppy points, akin to the style of a jester's hat, with dangling ghost and lollipop decorations. Like TAC, on his back, he carries a giant spherical sack, filled with stolen candy, and imprinted with a large spiderweb motif. Mischief Knight brandishes a tall candlestick as a weapon and swings it like a sword.
His basic attack is a quick downward swing with the candle, however, he will sometimes swing the candle back up again, which will create a brief fire-forcefield, good for blocking a single attack. Another candle-attack involves him using the stick's flame like a blowtorch. Mimicking Meta Knight's move, a wave of fire ripples across the ground until it hits a wall, where it will produce an inhalable star. If the foe is persistently flying above Mischief Knight's reach, the prankster is able to shoot his bag up in an attempt to either score a hit, or use the spiderweb-print sack to actually stick to the ceiling, allowing him to fight in the air until it releases. Mischief Knight goes “Egging” for a projectile-based attack. These exploding eggs are thrown either one or three at a time, and are inhalable, similar to Bonker's coconuts. Finally, in a desperate move to restrain the foe, Mischief Knight hurls a roll of binding toilet paper. Thrown in a straight line, the TP is easily dodged, but if it makes contact, the opponent will be wrapped in white sheets for a few seconds (struggling will allow for quicker escape) permitting Mischief Knight to bring the burnin' blaze. Outside of battle, Mischief Knight takes over Meta Knight's niche for very rarely passing-out Hyper Candy, elusively throughout the game. I am sometimes mischief...
**Moon Knight**
This celestial knight is Goddess of Pop Star's moon (unlike that poser, Mr. Shine) and takes her style and appearance from the Chinese holiday of “ZhongQiuJie”, or the Mid-Autumn Festival. She is an orchid-colored blob wearing a Chinese-Opera mask, in the shape of a rabbit (or, as I'll have you know, the emblem of Dedede). The mask is painted with the makeup of a beautiful woman, with cherry-blossom petal designs for the ears and mouth, and two very thin slits for her turquoise eyes. Instead of warrior's armor, she wears a pink waist-skirt that covers 2/3 of her body, which is secured with her mask by a red string, tied around the center in a bow, with jade endings. She holds no weapon in her hands, but constantly clutches a light blue shawl which floats behind her head and loops at both ends like sleeves. She wears black shoes with white bottoms, and a row of buns on her head, along with a huge black headdress shaped like a tire. Within this inner-tube (which is actually based on a real Chinese hairstyle) is Moon Knight's weapon- a mirror (symbolizing the full moon in Chinese art).
This mirror is Moon Knight's primary means of attack, and she uses it as one would the Cutter Ability. The mirror is hurled from her hairdo, out across the screen at rather slow pace, then returns like a boomerang. Attacking the mirror like this, but not simply colliding with it, will cause it to shatter and respawn on her head. Moon Knight also sometimes uses a rice-pounding mallet to inflict damage in close range, which produces an inhalable star on impact (this relates to the rabbit-in-the-moon of East Asian lore). A more passive attack involves Moon Knight floating up on purple clouds and slowly approaching the enemy in attempts to collide with them, akin to Dedede's float-attack. In yet another offensive maneuver, Moon Knight launches a “mooncake” (the special treat of the Mid-Autumn Festival) into the air with her mirror. It will then return onscreen, where the foe was last standing, in one of two forms- either a small mooncake that can be inhaled for ammo, or a humongous mooncake that could easily catch the player off-guard (and requires a full-strength inhale, if possible). Finally, Moon Knight's ultimate and rarest attack is the Moon Beam, in which she reflects the risen-moon's light off her hair-mirror, into a concentrated laser that is directed at the enemy. The beam can follow the foe almost anywhere on screen, but will stop if attacked, or after a few seconds. Despite all her abilities and the theme of a reflecting mirror, Moon Knight has less than average endurance and little defense. The one time she can shield herself is during her short hops, where she rapidly somersaults, like Kirby with the Star Rod. The mirror-headdress revolves around her round body, reflecting projectiles and damaging those who come in contact with her.Dedede-DaimyoFeb 10, 2011

Out with the Old, In with the New1695 viewsWith this, I hope to prove that I am truly attempting a gradual comeback, instead of just dumping that one packed-marker-pic and then retreating into withdrawn obscurity. You may remember I started this image last year, and only uploaded an inked-and-uncolored version of it to the gallery. Finally, as the Year of the Tiger comes to a close, I have at least crudely crayoned some hues here, so that my efforts hath not gone in vain. You could say the result is sloppy, but I will refute/lie, with the base of watercolor paper, this style is highly reflective of KDL3's artstyle. And you will believe this. Some small changes were made to the background figures, but for the most part, the surroundings still have all to do with Japanese and Asian New Year festivities. Tasty foods abound, as do the sea creatures below, just waiting to be turned into sushi, etc.

I know you're tired of hearing my “Anticipate the Greatness” speeches I tack on below the main art-attraction, most likely because I ever scantly follow through with my boastings. Well, this time's different! There will be a Part 2 to this New Years picture, and all of KRR's invited (erah, at least the biggest contributors...)! Similar in style to my beloved Hina-Matsuri pic of years-past, this magnificent commencement to the Year of the Rabbit will surely astound and educate you all! The date is set for February 3rd, 2011. Be there to heckle/stone me when I don't finish in time~!Dedede-DaimyoJan 22, 2011

Kabimaru-Matsuri Cho-man'in-E~!2325 viewsAfter months of AWOL-riddance, your beloved Daimyo has at last returned to KRR, friends and fans! Here, we have a super-jam-packed picture (of which I am so well-known for) featuring a literal metric tonne of characters from my planned/upcoming/still-long-off dojin-manga, inspired by “Samurai Kirby”. Depicted are creatures from all over the Kirby-canon, each painstakingly redesigned by yours truly, and even some of my own creation and IF entries. Most importantly, each individual has a distinct purpose and is relevant to some aspect of Japanese/Asian culture (You have only to inquire, and I may expectorate...). Picture was drawn in pencil on watercolor paper, outlined in India ink pens, and colored with watered-down felt tip markers. I started this before college, and only got to finish over winter-break. All-in-all, it took no more than one week of cherished free-time~!
In all actuality, I really wish I had the wherewithal to go through with this majestic manga undertaking, as I am filled with glorious ideas aplenty. However, dern art-college courses be taking up all my me-art-time! Last semester nearly “broke” me in every regard (physically, mentally, financially, not to mention emotionally! Dem dames~). And so, I could not afford to create this masterpiece for no personal gain. Selfish, I know; BUT, there IS something to look forward to, from me, soon enough! Does anyone remember the bygone and neglected “Pic Fics” (or Picture Fictions) of yesteryear, here at the Rainbow Resort? No? Well, once I unload my next masterwork, a year in the making, no one shall forget again! In the meantime, feast your eyes on this delectable pic of over 100 characters and see if you have the skills to recognize them all!

Epic-Yarn'Baggers2523 viewsHai-low, Rainbow-Resortto! I hope everyone is as excited for KEY as I am; only half a month away, now! This pic was supposed to appear in last week's mailbag release, albeit a rushed version, but it was somehow forgotten/overlooked. That is okay, however, because now that I've had more time to work on this, it is at least an acceptable product of yours-truly. Actually, time-itself has been hard to come by, recently, since my workload at art-college has demanded much more of me than previously blurted. Not that it's anything beyond my almighty-art-abilities, just extremely time-consuming, even with no other preoccupations. So, please excuse my rather distantness lately. Much good fanart has been made by gallery members over the past few months, and I wish to comment/congratulate them when I get a chance. Keep up the good work, everybody! Tonikaku, this piece may be used as October's Front Page Picture, if the admins wish...;P
Was drawn in pencil, inked in extra-fine ink pen, outlined in manga marker, colored in felt-tips, and edited in GIMP. (This may just be my most digital-made artwork yet? Cut/Paste is a lot less stressful than drawing the setting out-and-around the characters.) All credit for the background goes to Nintendo and the opening cut-scene of Kirby's Epic Yarn for Wii. Whaha-ha-no-ha~
Ohirah! And Happy 11th Birthday, Website! (Glad the notice was sudden, and I didn't have to kill myself making another pic this year!) And did'ya hear about the new DS Kirby game stated for next year? There's just too much awesome goin' on down here~!Dedede-DaimyoOct 01, 2010

King Dedede Ultra1692 viewsAfter a long leave of absence, the 3D Daimyo Dojo returns with the greatest Dream-King-figurine the world has ever seen! Personally, I believe this is my best sculpture yet (even though it was finished a year ago), and seriously, could it possibly be topped? I tried to depict Dedede in the exact style of Kirby Super Star, with the outlined waistband, hammer-stars, and self-insignia on the back of his robe. Even his pose: basic, yet forever defining. Everything about this harkens back to the golden-age of Kirby, and reflects my obsession with the character. Though, I am not obsessed enough to sculpt an updated “Masked Dedede” version, simply because I feel this one is too good to improve upon. FYI: all of my sculptures are made of beige Super Sculpey Polymer Clay and are hand-painted in acrylics.
So, I'm in art-college now. Based on just three-hours of class-time so far, I can say (imprudently) that I am already way beyond the teachings of this institution, having learned this stuff in gifted art-classes since elementary school. Whaha, but we shall see what lies in the future... Anyway, to my surprise/delight, this time away from home will provide me with unheard-of amounts of free-time (since I no longer have to work a daily job), and I plan to make much more art for KRR. This includes finishing my Ultimate Kirby Super Star 3D Sculptures; new 2D artwork in colored pencil, ink, and the return to watercolors; a new secret Essence pic; gallery comments; mailbag, and more~! Perhape I will also begin that manga-series I mentioned before... among other things. Sooo, anticipate the greatness, fans, friends, and followers!Dedede-DaimyoAug 29, 2010

Grey Matter2680 viewsKonbanwa, KRR~ It's not often that I create an artwork such as this. Many ideas and much imagination were brought together, from my heart- to my mind- to my hands, in order to compose such a chaotic array of design and interaction. Everyone speculates on the next level Zero may take if he is ever to return to the Kirby series. Most anticipate 0^3 as the next logical step-up, but what if the lineage went back to the basics (Dreamland 2) and a new form of Dark Matter was instead unleashed?
As stated, I was thinking over many things as the drawing was coming about. If Dark Matter were to be brought back in the upcoming Epic Yarn, how might they his alter its appearance to suit the game? (I know Kirazy did a great job on this already... Just bear with me!) The thought was, since DM is technically a vast mass of blackness, a simple outline of yarn would not do its form justice. Rather, if the yarn was compacted to give it a more solid appearance, this would work, but the resulting shape would be awkward and wrinkled.
On a completely different note, I have recently been introduced (indirectly) to a new wave of music by the band, Oingo Boingo, thanks to gallery favorite, Aru. Hai-hai, I know they're from the '80s, but my exclusive interest in Eastern music has somewhat blinded me to much of the greatest music from even my own country! Tonikaku, I went crazy and bought four of their CDs, and they're so cool! When I heard the song, “Grey Matter”, inspiration struck like a forged sword, and the way became clear =D
After all, Grey would be the median between Black (Dark Matter) and White (Zero)~
Incorporated into this picture are various elements of the Shimomura-saga of Kirby games. Kirby uses a combined Ice Ability to put the freeze on the big brain. Gooey and the basic Animal Friends return, as well as the Crystal Shards gang. Even Ko-Kracko and Whispy Woods Jr. assist in the struggle, standing-in for their much larger masters. In addition, with great honor, I also included the design for Aru's “02 Matter” knight, complying with the story of KDL2. I thank her in advance for letting me use this, and wish to express my gratitude for all she has done :)
Forgive me for building such a Text-block-tron of a message, but I don't always get to express myself in words, so when I do, I wish for them to be as beautiful as my artwork ^_^* This should be my last piece for a while, as I must concentrate on relationships and more important works. Hopefully, this hiatus will allow me to dish out some much-deserved Daimyo comments to great gallery works, and maybe a mailbag, omake. I believe I will put forth the effort to color all future colored-pencil pictures in the blended style seen here. Drawn in Pencil, Inked in India Ink Brush-Marker, and Colored in Crayolas, as usual.Dedede-DaimyoJul 13, 2010

Essence of Epic Yarn2931 viewsThe series continues~ #18! Hai! Not even a month after my supposedly final Dai-Essence-Drawing, when out of nowhere (E3) Nintendo throws a Kirve-ball and forces me to come out of retirement! It's a good thing, though, because quite frankly, no one can make a pic like me~ :) This is the moment we haven't known we were waiting for for years; Kirby finally comes to the Wii this fall in traditional 2D side-scrolling fashion!
This may be a little unorthodox/ presumptuous of me, crafting a fan-artwork of a game before it is even released. But this epic news has put me in the creative mood, enough to spend an entire week color-penciling the masterpiece you see before you! I'm sure it is easy to draw the outline-artstyle of KEY on the PC, however, it is infinitely harder when attempting to mimic the same style with traditional media. Especially since the characters are, for the most part, transparent, it is necessary to compose a complete background so no space is left blank. As is clear, I did not copy the new artstyle exclusivly; I also tried to incorporate the Kirby's Adventure commercial and other elements/ looks of Kirby's world. The characters I chose to include were the most recurring in the series, and ones I felt are most deserving of being in the upcoming game. I'll probably end up making another one of these, after the game's officially released, to incorporate the real bosses and whatnot. Just wanted to tide the fans over now because I will undoubtedly be busy later this year working on a certain secret project with a certain artist-elite (who probably now hates me for stalling forever, and who is surely heartbroken from my aloofness... Sumimasen)! Also on an unrelated note, there is the 4D Daimyo Dojo to look forward too, whatever that may be... so, Bye-cha~!Dedede-DaimyoJun 26, 2010

Essence of Air Ride2647 views17th and final (!?) in my glorious “Essence of Kirby” series~! The climax is here; the long-awaited and often-requested compilation of Kirby Air Ride for the Nintendo Game Cube has at last been revealed with no detail spared! Here, I've included all of the Air Ride machines, including legionaries; many of the game's unique characters, as well as returning favorites and Kirby colorations; and little hints of each mode (Air Ride, Top Ride, and City Trial). Every thing is arranged in a coiling vortex, with levels that rise toward the center and fall as it spirals outwards. The “track” itself has even been colored using each and every one of the 40-some colored pencils I own. I believe I really pulled out all the stops on this one; I wanted to include the most visualizations of any of my Essences yet, simply because this is the very last one (unless “you-know-what” comes out)...
I upload this a week from my 21st birthday, a time of great change for myself. I am happy to say, I've been accepted into a superb art-college for fall of this year; an important “coming of age” event, for sure. Before I deal with everything upcoming, however, I must first take the time to follow-through with a very special union. If all goes well, and if she agrees to forgive me, heheh ^_^*, it could prove to be a most illustrious gift for KRR, come this Christmas! I can no longer abdicate from my promises!
Anyway fans, expect a new series to succeed my Essences starting May 31. Anticipate the greatness And look forward to the future~!Dedede-DaimyoMay 25, 2010

Samurai Kirby Crew2404 viewsTeyande! Over the past few months, now that my epic-ordeal known as the Mailbag Manga has passed, I have been contemplating the creation of a new manga, based on the universe of the Samurai Kirby subgame in Kirby Super Star. I am unsure about committing to such an endeavor (I really should start spending some time on an original work) but if there is enough positive response to this proposal, I will create a chapter and see where the story goes from there.
Tonikaku, here we have the three main characters- Kirby, Meta, and Dedede- with modified designs, drawn and colored in the KSS style. Each comes from a different class of Feudal Japanese hierarchy; their personalities reflect their game counterparts, but the characters and setting are separate from traditional Kirby-canon. Their names derive from the Japanese pronunciation. The locale is Eastern Popstar, Dreamland of the Rising Sun, a place where everything is Oriental-style with a Kirby-twist.
Dedede-Daimyo: the highest ruler in all the 'Land (disregarding the unseen Shogun)! He commands the country from his prodigious castle-fortress and demands absolute loyalty from his retainers and subjects. Very much like the games, Dedede shows his influence by ordering his citizens to pay high taxes to him as tribute, in koku (i.e. stealing their food). He is dressed in traditional Samurai Kirby costume, with a high-collar, kabuki-style trim, and ceremonial Odachi sword. I finally got the topknot hairstyle down, by incorporating Dedede's crown from Kirby 64, to create a true chasen-gami look. The name is a play on his Japanese name, Dedede-Daio (great king), with the last character changed to signify him as a Daimyo (samurai lord).
Metanaito Musashi: the most advanced swordsman in allegiance to the Daimyo. He is a warrior of unparallelled skill and discipline, enthralled by the samurai code of Bushido and Zen. As in the games, Meta is a great general and commands an army under Dedede, but secretly plots to overthrow him one day. His appearance draws from his official look, combined with plated samurai armor and neck-guard, and dual, Daisho swords, one of which is the Master Sword from the games. The iconic slash on his mask from Samurai Kirby here comes with the loss of one eye, so as not to fall victim to the tired cliche. Meta Knight's forename follows the romanji of his Japanese name, Metanaito, with the surname baring a reference to Miyamoto Musashi, Japan's greatest swordsman.
Kabimaru: a young boy from a peasant-farming family that claims the title of Samurai Kirby in order to rise through the ranks, and right the wrongs that plague the country. He is just a Beginner swordsman, having labored in the fields most of his young life, but with continuing effort, eventually becomes a Novice, and finally an Expert fencer. However, there is more to this Samurai Kirby than meets the eye-- he has the power to inhale enemies and their attacks to copy their abilities. He channels the copied power into his Rainbow Sword, the Kaleido-Katana, similar to ability combos in Squeak Squad that gives him a boost in skill. Samurai Kirby's appearance is unchanged from the Titular game, except that he has a more cheerful disposition. The name Kabimaru stems from Kirby's Japanese name, Kaabii, and maru, meaning circle, a naming-suffix for boys in feudal-era Japan. Very fitting, no?
So, that's it. Based on the fans' judgments, I may make a manga in accordance with what I've laid-out here. Drawn in pencil, inked in India ink brush pens, colored in color pencil, and sprite background added in GIMP.Dedede-DaimyoApr 10, 2010

Essence of Tilt'n'Tumble2470 views16th in my glorious “Essence of” series. My, it has been far too long since my last entry, but with all my other accomplishments in-between, perhaps the great wait will be excused!? Anyway, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble was one of the most unique K-games made, and most innovative for it's time. Released exclusively for the Game Boy Color, KTnT's game play utilized motion-sensor technology to move Kirby throughout the stages. It was as if the pink pudge was sitting right on the screen, and he would roll any direction the hand-held was tilted, and would even jump if the device was flicked. Very groundbreaking gravitational controls, for sure, but I prefer a traditional Kirby platformer, thanksmuch. A 3-D sequel was once in the works for the Gamecube, but was eventually abandoned. Come on, HAL, produce! Any Kirby game would be better than none! This pic is a first for my essesnces, in that I have added characters that are less than actual bosses, some unique to TnT, but I figured that there would be no better time to showcase them. The Orbservers are observing youse~!Dedede-DaimyoMar 30, 2010
