Kirby and the Two Strings1987 viewsAlt title: "Hoshi No Kubo"

Everyone! If you have not yet seen the new animated movie by Studio Laika-- KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS-- you must do so! It's a visually stunning masterpiece of handcrafted stopmotion wonder. Plus, the Japanese folklore references and stylistic choices are top notch, which may be why I am biased in my love for the flick.

After seeing it on premier night, my mind went wild making connections to the Kirby series, my other infamous obsession. Kubo is a strong yet innocent protagonist just like the hero of Dream Land, and many of his foes and allies directly parallel characters out of the pink puffball's games. With a few reworkings incorporating a mesh of designs from both Kubo and Kirby, I bring you this mighty artwork which reflects my ultimate digital drawing powers.

Please help support the makers of Kubo and the Two Strings by seeing it in theaters before, like the ephemeral summer, it is gone. Big thanks also to the Kirby games and the many joys they bring their fans-- Kirby Planet Robobot being the most recent. I cannot recommend these two great things enough :)

Doumo arigato gozaimasu to all for viewing my art and spreading the love. Let's look forward to the future of me hopefully uploading more awesome Photoshop creations soon~!

If anyone can guess the inspiration for the skates on this clockwork ninja bot, I'll give ya a cookie sushi ;)

Simirror Ultra1754 views(Description to be updated with more unique writing after Newyears.) This is the first wave of my super-special, Ultimate Kirby Super Star sculpture series, for KRR Christmas 2009. Check back again in eight days for seven new figures. King Dedede Ultra3238 viewsAfter a long leave of absence, the 3D Daimyo Dojo returns with the greatest Dream-King-figurine the world has ever seen! Personally, I believe this is my best sculpture yet (even though it was finished a year ago), and seriously, could it possibly be topped? I tried to depict Dedede in the exact style of Kirby Super Star, with the outlined waistband, hammer-stars, and self-insignia on the back of his robe. Even his pose: basic, yet forever defining. Everything about this harkens back to the golden-age of Kirby, and reflects my obsession with the character. Though, I am not obsessed enough to sculpt an updated “Masked Dedede” version, simply because I feel this one is too good to improve upon. FYI: all of my sculptures are made of beige Super Sculpey Polymer Clay and are hand-painted in acrylics.
So, I'm in art-college now. Based on just three-hours of class-time so far, I can say (imprudently) that I am already way beyond the teachings of this institution, having learned this stuff in gifted art-classes since elementary school. Whaha, but we shall see what lies in the future... Anyway, to my surprise/delight, this time away from home will provide me with unheard-of amounts of free-time (since I no longer have to work a daily job), and I plan to make much more art for KRR. This includes finishing my Ultimate Kirby Super Star 3D Sculptures; new 2D artwork in colored pencil, ink, and the return to watercolors; a new secret Essence pic; gallery comments; mailbag, and more~! Perhape I will also begin that manga-series I mentioned before... among other things. Sooo, anticipate the greatness, fans, friends, and followers!

Smash_MK.jpg
Smash Meta Knight2701 views*Cue RoMK Halberd Music* Oh yea, my peoples~ Feast your eyes on this fully rendered, incredibly detailed, and superlatively (etc.) wondrous Master MK Sculpture! Meta Knight kicks as much butt in Brawl, as he does in my 3D Dojo! Kirby's rival is a dark and deadly ball of terror on the battlefield. His quick and versatile playstyle and mastery of the Galaxia sword allow him to deliver the “Meta Knightmare” to unsuspecting players. Many of MK's attacks and abilities come from the games he has appeared in. Of course, his sword attacks derive from the Sword Ability and/or the encounters with the boss in various games, yet techniques like the Shuttle Loop and the ability to fly come from Super Star's wing ability and the Revenge of Meta Knight subgame. Also from KSS come MK's giant Battleship, the Halberd (redesigned) and his overly-powered Mach Tornado, which may also be based on Tornado Ability. Unlike Kirby, MK's look has been slightly updated for his debut in SSB: He always wears his cape (which has a bat printed on the back) during the fight, instead of discarding it; his shoulder-armor comes to a point on the edges, as well as now displaying his “M-sword” mon (first seen in RoMK) and red-tildes; shoes change to purple-plated armor over black leather; and his mask, instead of being secured to his face by a band, is held on by two small clips. *Cue RoMK Ending Music*13 commentsDedede-Daimyo01/18/12 at 22:11plasmakirby: now see this is what i'm talking about i could...
Sword_Parasol.jpg
Sword / Parasol2053 viewsThankyou for being patient. After long wait, the Kirby Super Star Set of Sculptures kick-starts with double updates of Kirby Abilities! Fist up is Sword ability, a well-known weapon (prolly 'cuz Meta Knight...), but in my opinion, not so great of an ability. Kirby dons a parody of Link's hat and continuously displays his sharp Master Sword with this ability. Good for short, quick attacks with little punch behind them. Next is the lesser-known, but somehow present in more games, ability Parasol. Staying true to his roots, Kirby wears no hat with this unique ability, but always holds an open umbrella over his head. With a few good attacks, the main use of Parasol is it's defensive capabilities. Also can be used to slow one's decent through the air. *For more info on how these and other abilities work, check out SiR6's Ability Reviews and the Fan Ability reviews portion of this site*
For all future reference, my 'Kirby's Ability' sculptures are specifically made of that horrible brown, bulk-quantity, air-drying clay. For this reason, and the fact that I disliked the repetitiveness of making the pink puff so many times over, some may be of lower quality than my norm. Please excuse this, and look forward to more 3D Daimyo Dojo!

Out with the Old, In with the New3209 viewsWith this, I hope to prove that I am truly attempting a gradual comeback, instead of just dumping that one packed-marker-pic and then retreating into withdrawn obscurity. You may remember I started this image last year, and only uploaded an inked-and-uncolored version of it to the gallery. Finally, as the Year of the Tiger comes to a close, I have at least crudely crayoned some hues here, so that my efforts hath not gone in vain. You could say the result is sloppy, but I will refute/lie, with the base of watercolor paper, this style is highly reflective of KDL3's artstyle. And you will believe this. Some small changes were made to the background figures, but for the most part, the surroundings still have all to do with Japanese and Asian New Year festivities. Tasty foods abound, as do the sea creatures below, just waiting to be turned into sushi, etc.

I know you're tired of hearing my “Anticipate the Greatness” speeches I tack on below the main art-attraction, most likely because I ever scantly follow through with my boastings. Well, this time's different! There will be a Part 2 to this New Years picture, and all of KRR's invited (erah, at least the biggest contributors...)! Similar in style to my beloved Hina-Matsuri pic of years-past, this magnificent commencement to the Year of the Rabbit will surely astound and educate you all! The date is set for February 3rd, 2011. Be there to heckle/stone me when I don't finish in time~!

The Famous Kirby and His Supporting Cast!5346 viewsThankyou Rainbow Resort and all fans of my work for your continuous support and high ratings!! Behold my skills in a medium aside from colored pencil! This extraordinary artwork is real and hand-painted in Watercolor and outlined in Carbon Black India Ink. Featured are Kirby, his animal friends and helpers, and the best known of his adversaries, before Planet Popstar. A handy way to make watercolor look this good is to first color with a felt tip marker, then blend it out with a fine, water-dipped brush.29 commentsDedede-Daimyo11/24/11 at 16:14kirby-kaabii: Wow!
