Now that Return to Dreamland has had a few months to settle, and there's no sign of upcoming game announcements, I've started wondering: where will the Kirby series go from here? My best guess for the next major Kirby game (i.e. not a spinoff) is either a) something entirely different, maybe even a 3D Kirby platformer, or b) a revival of the Shimomura style of Kirby gameplay, which might make sense considering RtD's return to traditional Sakurai style. However, my ideas are neither interesting nor are they plenty, so I'm interested to hear other people's predictions.

About Me: hi i'm a huge kirby fan if you knew me would just how big of a kirby fan i am but anyways if you have seen my gallery than you know that i sculpt cay draw and i am working on a game. Also if you need help with making games like with sprite and back grounds don't be afraid to ask.
maybe they would bring back zero but i would much rather prefer a game with that cel shaded look that they had for 3rd unreleased game.on the other hand i have an idea for a plot with zero he could be back but this time he has created a planet((like in kirby crystal shards) that is the opposite of popstar like negative popstar having the dark matters take on forms of everyone but the planet is flying through space on a collision course with popstar and kirby must venture into space and defeat zero and destroy dark popstar.

I....really don't want to see a full 3d Kirby. I've said this before, but I'll say it again; I don't see full 3d gameplay benefiting Kirby in any way.

I don't think we'll be seeing more Shimomura style games either, as sad as that is. It looks like Kumazaki is pretty stuck on moveset-based games, which obviously are also a lot of fun but I do wish we could see another game in the style of DL3. Then again, KCC felt pretty Shimumuran so who knows?

I'm gonna predict a new spinoff platformer for the 3DS next year and maaaaybe another traditional style platformer a year or two after that. It seems like of hal's two teams, one makes games that I like but takes forever to make up their mind about anything while the other makes games I really don't like and can pump them out pretty quickly.

I'm also not gonna rule out the possibility of an epic yarn 2. Good Feel hasn't released anything big in a while and epic yarn was a huge success, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they've been working on a second one.

I thought (despite the cameo) Dark Matter/Zero was overwith because they were only in Shimomura's games...
Anyway, I think there'll probably be a remake of something for the 3DS (or an original title)
Air Ride 2 for Wii U! I wish...

About Me: Hi, I'm Vagrant. I'm all over the place. My favorite character is Nightmare even though it says my favorite game is Mass Attack.
Meta Knight should dance more.

Seriously though, I don't know what they're going to do. I know very little about the game producers themselves and hadn't even heard of Shimomura until today.

As for small things...I predict more anime character cameos. We haven't seen one of Fumu or Bun yet.

Shimomura's games are pretty different from Sakurai's. While Sakurai's focus is on fighting and puzzles take a back seat to the beat 'em up aspect, Shimomura's games are basically puzzle platformers. The enemy designs are also more minimalist and the music is less sugary and more...melodic? understated? I can't really come up with a better word...

Unlike the Sakurai games (I say Sakurai games as if he's made more moveset games than Superstar but you know what I mean), Shimomura's games all have one attack per ability but can be mixed with other effects (animal friends or ability mixing) to add more variety. If you haven't tried any of his games before, I'd recommend Dreamland 2 or 3 (I especially love 3 but they're both fantastic) and 64 is okay too but I don't think it has the same charm as the other two.

Shimomura's Kirby is pretty overlooked in the latest games, which is a shame. But I don't want movesets to go away either, so I dunno what to say...

It might be nice to get a mix of the two styles. I realize that trying to completely mix the two probably wouldn't work, but I'd like to see a Sakurai-style game with a bit more focus on puzzles, or a bit more... atmosphere? Not sure if that's really the word I want, but oh well.

Well I'm not gonna predict anything because Hal pretty much always has room for surprises.

I'd love to see sequels to games like Kirby Air Ride and Kirby Tilt 'N' Tumble! I can totally see a Air Ride for 3DS and maybe a little downloadable Tilt 'N' Tumble for WiiU rather than a retail game.

I'd love a Shimomura-styled game as much as the rest of us, but really, we've been saying that for years and still haven't had one. But hey, like I said, anything can happen.

I dunno about you, but I like the direction Kumazaki's putting Kirby in, so I'm really looking forward to anything!

The Kirby series is going to go in whatever direction HAL feels like going.

I know that's short and to the point, but that's always been the case for Kirby.

Its either Kirby Canvas Curse Curse for the Wii U (using the touch screen like Nintendo cats and dogs for the 3ds) or My made up game Kirby Gourmet Garden for the 3ds where all of Dreamland was turned into food. All of his copy abilities will be food related. Kirby will have to fight his hunger to save his ... planetstar i guess?

About Me: Is it okay for me to hate the anime? Wait, why am I even asking you?! Squeak Squad rules :D
I don't know what's next as I cannot predict the future (which sucks :() but I have two game ideas I think would make since...in a way.

1. Kirby: Tale of Two Thieves- Kirby needs more Squeak Squad (DO NOT DARE DENY IT!) and their little role in Mass Attack was too small (AND IT SUCKED.) so... I thought of this little gem. It's like an improved *sparkle sparkle* Kirby Squeak Squad. Basically my storyline is some theif that has relation to Daroach (It was his sister at first but then I was like, nah...). The Squeak Squad go after her (female swag) because obviously they are the only thieves in Dreamland, always have been always will be. Kirby's like "Whatever" until... that noisy little thief goes after his food supply. Anything but his food! So basically Kirby and Daroach team up (or claim to be forced to) to stop the no good little booger. They run into some obstacles A.K.A Dedede being paid to chase them down, but eventually find her and beat the crap out of her. Ain't it swell? No it's not because then a slighty familiar final boss *cough*nebula*cough* shows up. Basically it could be like Kirby as the main player and Daroach as like a helper. Not like the slow helpers they give you in Kirby: SS/SSU that run head first into an attack and die before the boss has taken more than half damage, but more like REASONABLE helper. It sounds impossible, but hey, if Pokemon Mysery Dungeon can do well so can Kirby right? I also wanted to include using members of the Squeak Squad for certain parts of certain levels like in Kirby 64 when you ride Dedede and Waddle Dee helps you out (with a box :D). And all boss battles would be a little chase before you get to actually fight the boss (like Heavy Lobster's battle kind of and Whispy Woods from DML3). Don't forget a Factory Investigation Remix for a real level. It could be an awesome game!

2. Although the world will hate me...Kirby's Epic Yarn 2. Let me explain first! Kirby's Epic Yarn didn'tlet you take damage/die because it "didn't fit the feel of the game". So...let's change the feel! More hardcore music, more classic references, creepy bosses and a higher ranting; the game could aim for Everyone 10 and up! And after playing Warioland: Shake It I had a fantastic idea. Ready for it? It's....challenges! That's right, in every level there are about 3-5 challenges that Kirby/Prince Fluff can try to complete. Example...get 2,500 beads in so-in-so, unravel 5 Waddles Dees.... It would make the game HARDER. That's right, a DIFFICULT Epic Yarn. See? I'm not stupid :D

I do like that Canvas Curse Wii U idea. That would be hardcore (and a good reason to get a Wii U....)

Nintendo will never make a sequel to Squeak Squad because other Kirby games probably did astronomically better (relatively, it probably still sold a lot,) by virtue of being good games. Except Mass Attack. It was better than Mass Attack.

And yet some still like Mass Attack more than Canvas Curse, like IGN.

I'd always love to see more of Daroach and his gang though.

I just hope the next game isn't the "Bad guy comes to town, and possesses everybody, so Kirby has to beat their lights out" kind of plot. To Tell you the truth, when KRtDL had a leaked 30 sec trailer back in Winter 2011, seeing Kirby alone, I pretty much assumed it would be one of those games. I honestly wasn't really excited about KRtDL because, I assumed "Yeah...you probably for some random reason, have to fight King Dedede and Meta Knight". After all, we did that last year in Epic Yarn.

Honestly, my demeanor for this game went from, not really interested...to completely hyped for the game when more was revealed in June 2011. The fact, that it was 4 player co-op simultaneously like Mario Bros Wii Co-op, and that Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Waddle Dee were playing was simply incredible. IMO, the series is doing good with MK, DDD, and Waddle Dee as Kirby's helpers/friends, I want to see more of that, really, I do! As long as they continue to make new bosses like Galacta Knight, we're headed in a good direction. I hope they make a direct sequel to KRtDL, and with online play, I dont care if it reuses the KRtDL engine, just update it a little, add more stuff to it, and a whole new set of levels, and I'd definitely play it. Also, I'd like to see a little bit more story, as to why Kirby is buddies with his rivals, it would be nice to see what Kirby did to/for Dedede, for example, so that they would be friends.

I was disappointed they didn't make challenge stages for the other characters in the 20th anniversary collection, but oh well.

Well, assuming the events of Crystal Shards are canon with RtDl (And on that note, DL2 and 3), beating the possessed crap out of him might be points in Kirby's favor.
