Now, I can understand them saying the game could have been more and that perhaps it didn't meet their expectations, but to say it was one of the most disappointing games for the season? I think that's a bit harsh. Especially since their main complaint is that it was too much like what we're used to. I do believe that's the point of a franchise returning to its roots. And wasn't that precisely what they were praising it for at first?

I'm sure IGN is like any other review site and regardless of how good or bad a game is it's their sponsors that ultimately decide what gets the best ratings, but this still has me annoyed. :shakefist:

They just contradict themselves. Their We were like paragraph says it's going to be traditional...Guess what It was traditional! AND THEY HATED IT GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

People still take what IGN say seriously?

I thought their reason for finding it disappointing was hilarious.

Before:
"This title will be a return to a more traditional adventure for the pink puffball..."

After:
"RtDL is mostly disappointing because it doesn't really attempt to do anything we haven't seen before."

Wow, I didn't know we've seen energy spears, super ability's, extra mode, or leaf and water ability's in any other Kirby game, but according to IGN I guess we have!

Also Kirby's Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland. I'm sure there's more, but point is Extra Mode wasn't exclusive to RtDL.

I finally got around to commenting on this article. Been meaning to for a while now. Here's what I said:

I....let's look at the list of traditional IGN Kirby review scores in order of release, shall we?

KDL - 8
KA - 8
KDL2 - none, sadly
KSS - 8.5
KDL3 - 7 (most fans I've met consider either this or KSS/KSSU to be the best game in the series, by the way)
K64 - 7.5 or 7.9 based on the time it was reviewed
KNiDL - 8.5
KAM - 8
KSqSq - 7.8 (wait wait wait the game that is generally considered the absolute worst in the series got a higher score than returns to dreamland? huh.)
KSSU - 7.9

If you average all those together, you get a 7.9. Apparently "Good enough" for a nintendo first party game is only four points higher than the score you gave it. what?

I had originally decided to steer clear of x-men destiny since you guys said it sucked, but if what was among my top five favorite games this year was a disappointment, maybe I should stop paying attention to your reviews. Seriously.

Seriously, Why in the heck would they give kss a higher score than kssu? I mean, kssu was basically an expansion of kss except with new graphics...>.> wow they suck

well, that and five new game modes. But yeah, IGN's Kirby reviews are pretty bogus. They gave KDL3 a 7 because apparently gooey can't ride animal friends and can't copy most abilities (neither of those are true, by the way).

From what I remember reading from that I believe they didn't even know there were new game modes and just dismissed it after playing the first (few) game(s).
