Kirby's Rainbow Resort

Sonic is going to have an RPG for the DS in 2008. That's right ladies and gentlemen. Sonic will officially have a decent spin-off, at least in my opinion:

I've wanted something like this for a long time. "Why can't Sonic be an RPG?" I always thought. But now, with the help of BioWare (the creators of Jade Empire and Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic) it's finally happening. This game has the potential of being fantastic, and because it's developed by BioWare, I think it will be. So, is this the final nail in Sonic's big, wooden box, or is this the start of something so extraordinary that none of could possibly imagine it?

You decide.

What would an RPG about Kirby be about???. Absolutely nothing that that the platform games didn't already think of. Sonic characters actually need to be deeply dived into. A Kirby RPG would feature Kirby and.......................O YEA!, Kirby.

Yeah, but Sega does have a lot of say what goes into the game...

And as of the Kirby RPG a lot of things could go into it. They could just in-fact create new characters like when they made Kine and etc. All I am saying is I expected an RPG of Kirby before Sonic.

That may be true, but at this point there's no evidence pointing either way as to how much control that Sega has on this game (or they want to have over it). So, I guess we're at a stalemate there. XD

I can't comprehend this... Sonic is supposed to be fast-paced, it wouldn't make a good RPG. :O

Well, there is the likelihood that the game will be an action RPG and not turn-based, so I don't think that the pace will be that much slower than a normal Sonic game. But, that might just be me.

I completely agree. Sonic and RPGs don't mix. I have no idea how BioWare is even going to begin to make this.

But it was fast.

They could always pull a Sonic Labyrinth and make up some excuse as to why he's not fast anymore. Sonic's still like Mario in that aspect, he can be thrust into any role.

I wonder if anyone has said something like that to Nintendo about the Mario series.

To be honest, the Mario series has been disappointing me as of late. I thought Super Mario Sunshine was a decent game, but it didn't give me the amount of enjoyment that I got out of Super Mario 64. This can be compared to how I feel in regards to Sonic Adventure 2 when comparing it to the original Sonic Adventure. We haven't had a real Mario game since 2002 (not counting New Super Mario Bros.), and the Mario spin-offs (such as the Mario RPGs) aren't satisfying me. 5 years with no real sequel? That's pretty bad in my book. Oh yeah, and two words:

Mario Party XD
