Zetsara shoveled ice-creamy goodness into her mouth like a backhoe, barely stopping to breath. Her bowl of strawberries was already half gone too. She stopped momentarily, mouth full, and stared at Placia who, at this point, was completely silent and hadn't touched a thing. Squinting, Zetsara forced herself to swallow everything in one gulp. She grabbed a clean spoon. Casually, she scooped a wad of vanilla ice cream, oozing with chocolate syrup and peppered with chunks of banana. She looked over at Placia, slyly.

"littleladysayswhat" Zetsara's tongue zipped as she spoke really quickly, mashing the words together to prompt the desired response from Placia, which of course would be 'what?' Thus opening the landing pad for the massive blob of sugary goodness that was now rocketing towards her mouth. Zetsara had lurched forward, driving the spoon towards Placia's open lips...with a sinister smile.

---

"Uwaaa!" Rayd woke with a start, immediately looking around himself. His eyes were wide and his breathing was heavy as he scanned the area frantically. The breeze was rustling the tall grasses near the lake, but other then that he saw nothing. He let out a long sigh or relief as he laid his head back down. "Just a nightmare..."

So, while Theo was doing that thing, Alexander was chilling in the diner, downing a good deal of cuba libres. He regarded Zetsara and Placia's... antics with bemusement, but wasn't exactly past chill yet.

"She's pretty goddamn hot, ain't she?" Kaz yelled, gesturing at Zetsara.

"I guess so." Alexander said. Alexander proceeded to spit out his drink at the sight of Kaz. "What the he-"

"Well, it gets really !@#$%' tiring being goddamn CODEC support for a little @*^!# like you. So I figured, you know, eh, what the hell? I'd come get really !@#$%' tanked and maybe shoot the @$#^ for a bit before I lodge my complaint with that asshat who thinks he's your goddamn grandfather or whatever the !@#$%." Wow, that's a lot more vulgar than he's ever been on here. Alexander blandly stared at him.

"...@*^!#?"

"Came up with that just yesterday. Totally suits you." Kaz laughed, then finished Alexander's cuba libre and started staring at Zetsara again.

"...So," Alexander shook his head and asked, "why exactly are you so enamoured with her? And how come they can't, like, hear us? You're being very loud." Which, you know, goes without saying, but still.

"Because this is a CODEC conversation."

"No, it's not."

"If you believe in yourself, you !@#$%, it totally is. Or would you prefer that I start yelling about this directly at her?" Kaz grinned under his coat. Alexander couldn't see it.

"No, no, that's fine." Alexander ordered another cuba libre and dropped his earlier question. "Hey, you know where Thompson is? He ran out of his booze and I was kinda freaking out abo-" Kaz gestured at his hat. Indeed, it did seem a bit larger than usual. "Oh. Well, okay then."

"So, you get your ass kicked by anyone else while I was off being badass as @$#^?" Kaz asked.

"Oh. I lost to that train guy. It was a real downer."

"Damn shame." Kaz said, as Alexander kicked back another glass. "How many's that?"

"..." Alexander mulled it over. "Eight."

"Good man." Kaz leaned back in his chair. "I told you cuba libres were !@#$%' awesome."

"They are. You were right. I was wrong. Happy?"

"Hell yeah." Kaz barked an order for one, too. "So, you know where Ol' Grandpappy Gaylord is now?"

"No clue."

"!@#$%." Kaz barked. "Damn." He intoned. "...Blast." He mumbled. (Mumbling, with him, of course being equivalent to the roar of a plane.)

"...Hey." Alexander mumbled. "After this, wanna, like... fight someone?"

"Why the @$#^ not?" Kaz turned away from looking in Zetsara's direction and looked at Alexander. "One sec." Kaz ordered enough cuba libres to get exactly as drunk as Alexander was, then ordered more for both of them. "Whoever passes out first loses."

"You're on." Alexander chuckled.

And then they started boozing.

"Then by all means, let's make haste. As soon as we reach that cave I'll be able to figure out how to put an end to this." There wasn't much to say on the matter, the quicker they got moving the faster they'll be able to bring some order back to the wild psyche. Amidst the roaring embers and surging static, Acheron tried to figure out how she could fix the strained trust that was quickly crumbling between herself and Torvus. It was a long standing issue she had struggled to handle, transparency and honesty. It was hard for somebody so innately disposed to misdirection. It wasn't that she enjoyed to decieve, not anymore at least, but that it was so much easier to alllow somebody to lie in docile ignorance then to fret over the looming dangers, especially over matters that they'd have no hope in dealing with.

But this was wrong and she knew it. No matter how she may have tried to dismiss the facts to choose someone else's comfort over concern was simply wrong. When you sheild people from the truth they deserve, you make yourself no better then what you're trying to ward off to begin with. There was no way around it. Torvus would need to know.

"Torvus, you'll need to know something about what may be ahead. The Static that we've been hearing is definitely coming from the same direction as our destination. From where I come from, Static is considered to be the complete antithesis to life. It's inactive, stagnant, empty, dead." Acheron spoke up to warn the Taz, but theen paused for a couple moments. When she spoke up again her voice had changed from her deadpan matter-of-fact tone to a much gentler, yet gravely serious one. "There's only been a few occasions when I've encountered it, and none of them have been...pleasant. I need you to be ready for anything, but willing to flee at a moments notice should we encounter anything or anyone. Can you please do that?"

---

"Well, That should do it, I'd reckon that ol' Cappy should be 'bout ripe to be shattered into a milli- Eh?" Spindow mulled as he realized that the IGLOOCUBE had quickly risen into the air on a trio of Ice towers, allowing the freed creampuff to skate out of the Ice prison's clasp. "Hey!" The Flummoxed Slime shouted as he ran in persuit of his runaway opponent across the ice. "HEY!" He hollered after Capppy. It was so inconsiderate really, You build somebody a jagged haphazardly construed Ice cage with the sole intention of smashing them within it to slush and this is is the thanks you get. Kids these days. You try to put a roof over their head and how do they thank you? By pulling a gun on you that's how... Wait what?

Spindow drove a pair of stakes into the ice sending the slime skidding across the arena before coming to stop staring dead center down the barrel of Cappy's gun. It was pretty much impossible for him to get out of the way from this close meaning that he had only one option left. All or Nothing.

"Heeey~" Spindow said as he batted a eye at the his opponent in an attempt to woo him into lowering his weapon. "What's a sweet little thing like you doing with a nasty piece of work like this. A lady like you shouldn't be handling something as brutish as a weapon... You are a woman right? Honestly I can barely tell the difference with you guys, you all pretty much the same and I'm going to be shot aren't I?"

Cappy's answer came with the click of a trigger and Spindow's body careening in a swirl of ink straight into the suspending IGLOOCUBE, knocking it off the frozen pillars. Strands of elastic tar covered the floor and hung from the walls, making the arena look more apt to a disfunctional taffy machine then a battle ground. It was clear Spindow had been downed, but he was by no means out. Whatever strands had remained connected to the greater whole slid into the empty lake before launching into the air, planting itself firmly in the center of the ceiling. Once enough slime had collected around the rising stalk, four steel spears rose up from the sludge and the drove themselves into the stone underneath, followed by a loud ground-shaking crack. The strand pulled up a number of broken pieces of cement cobbled together by a conglomeration of metal and mass, suspended like a massive pendelum.

Finally a familiar voice called out from the very top of the hodgepodge flail. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! I try to romance you with no ulterior motives whatsoever and you shoot me?! Well FINE! If you want to play rough, I'll gladly oblige. Let me know what you think of FLAILCUBE when you're embedded 5 feet into the wall!" On cue, the stone thresher swung full circle before whipping itself like a rubber band toward Cappy.

"I will pretend you did not make that last request." Torvus replied with a snarl, speaking to Acheon a completely dead-pan tone. "I will not abandon my partner until all hope is gone. If you think we should flee with our tails between our legs, then you shouldn't have come up with this wild scheme. We either go all the way or you'll have to drag me out kicking and screaming. Do you understand? Do you?" he said, barking at her like some sort of squadron leader. She'd obviously struck another nerve.

Acheron would have to be extremely dense after seeing all this destruction to not see that Durock was all that Torvus had left... There was more to it than that of course, since the area of Wakao that Torvus had come from was left untouched by the asteroid's devastation, but that was another story and irrelevant right now.

As they raced through the blazing forest, Acheron had probably noticed that much of their path seemed to have been cleared out ahead of them. (Well mostly at least.) In their race through the inferno with the panda girl, Durock and Torvus had used their powers of manipulation to force the flames away from them, while simultaneously intensifying them to the point they quickly burned through their fuel, leaving a scorched path in their wake. There were still wildfire of course, and random debris that had fallen after they passed through, but for the most part the way was cleared. They'd done this for the sake of any survivors that were trapped and needed a way out and though Torvus was fatigued and suffering from his burns, was doing similar for Archeron, forcing the flames away from her whenever there was a sudden flare up.

As for him, the intensity of flames had gone down to his tolerance levels, they were no longer at the plasma-esque temperatures that burned his flesh when he tackled Acheron to the ground. However, the marsupial was tired and winded, and even irate from everything that had happened. What kept him going was that an adrenalin rush along with a sheer determination to get through this.

((Deguass where are you? Fighter and I have been waiting for you to make posts in relation to our characters. Betrice, M1, spirit Deguass and Placia))

((Also this is totally Durock's theme now. Up beat, intense, climatic! it's fitting in name and all around. Apparently the character it belongs to can perform nuclear fusion too?))

((Ah. My bad.))

Deguass' expression remained largely unchanged, and eventually he stepped off the Tiger, even going so far as to offer a hand up. "Really. If you hadn't damn near blown yourself up you wouldn't have had to eat dirt. If you think about it it's your fault I stepped on you." Maintaining his sly grin, he waited for the Tiger to either accept or reject the outstretched hand offered to him.
"So, now what will you do?" Deguass inquired, a brow raised to denote genuine intrigue. "Oh, please say you'll stay. I do so love watching you exhaust yourself killing comically large reptiles."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Placia had been honestly caught unawares by Zetsara's sudden burst of energy, she seemed like a different person at the mercy of sugar. "Littleladysayswhat."

"Huh?" And that was all it took, Placia's expression of confusion became further so as, in the brief moment she had opened her mouth, it was suddenly stuffed with ice cream. Despite her being absolutely lost, she quite eagerly, or rather, as eager as her meek demeanor would allow, accepted it, and softly pulled away from the utensil when she had taken her share.
It was delicious, and though her face seemed to be hidden beneath her hair, she was visibly smiling. She said nothing, and probably wouldn't if no one else did.

Acheron sighed in resignation. Being as weary as Torvus was, she was hardly willing to be chastised for asking that her companion would be wary of something alien to even her. She could sympathize with Torvus' desire not to lose somebody he cared for, she really could, but to end up destroying yourself in the midst of a needless frenzy is hardly just. Just imagining telling Durock should he awaken to find Torvus in an even worst state made her skin crawl with anxiety. The sooner they reached the grove the better, It was hard to maintain any sense of civility with such a inhospitable air.

It didn't take long to end though. As soon as Acheron and Torvus stepped foot into the groves the world seemed to freeze. The wind from the fire abruptly died, as did all the sounds of the inferno and static that had previously filled the air. the fires still burning in the grove gave off no heat as they rose up and snapped back like a badly looped animation. But perhaps most unsettling was the complete chromatic inversion that had seiged the area, rendering like an eerie photo-negative. "Between you and me, I'd prefer the candy land over this." Acheron commented. "We'll be relatively safe here, This area has been reduced to a standstill. If he were here you could say it's the broadcasting center of Durock's psychological being, but without him here all you get is... this." Acheron found herself a confortable seating and started up another extraction, pulling the essence out of the ground before feeding the strands back into the earth as they ran past her fingers. "I'm going to start troubleshooting and see if I can find the problem. Feel free to look around, it will help us both recompose our demeanors."

His blows having connected with a loud crack, Dusk again stepped forward to keep the distance between him and his opponent at a minimum. He kept his right arm at his side, but held his left hand in front of himself to catch any desperate shots Pandora might have been planning to take. Because of the force of his attack, however, Pandora had been sent reeling a little too far for him to quickly close the distance. She managed to push herself up and recover from his strike, though she was leaning heavily on her knee. He began to collect energy from the air around him, channelling it through his body as he prepared to finish Pandora off. But then, Pandora began to speak, and Dusk momentarily held off on his assault.

“Already giving up?” Dusk thought suspiciously, still keeping his left hand at the ready to catch any surprise shots.

"No way we were going to win the 3-on-3, not like that," Pandora said with a pained smile. "Not with you, Theo, and the machine..." She drew her right-hand gun and pointed it at Dusk, her body unsteady and wobbling from side to side.

“Though I despise the act of cutting one’s self short, does it not occur to you that now is not the best time to ruminate about that?” Dusk asked, patiently waiting for Pandora to finish before he continued his assault. He didn't stop channeling the air’s energy though, he may have been patient and polite enough to not interrupt Pandora, but he was not so foolish as to not prepare an assault for when she was done. By speaking she was only giving him ample time to set up and ensure her defeat.

"But you should know from then that I don't give up easily...Not even against these odds. So, then, you should know how much it'd take to take me out." She continued with a chuckle that almost reached full laughter. "Enough of my chatter, then. Let's see how you take this, shall we?” She said as she went to fire, but she never had the chance as the sound of Zane’s Colt firing pierced the air and a bullet ripped straight through her back. The bullet would have hit Dusk as well, had it not been for the fact he had already been preparing for a shot from Pandora. He reached out with his mind and concentrated to a point, stopping the bullet before it reached him, but not opting to do Pandora the same favor.

The bullet floated in front of him as he held it aloft with his mind, momentarily scrutinizing it. With a snap of his fingers it split into six shards, each of which thinned out to become sharp and needle-like. With a flick of his wrist he sent them flying, with three hovering steadily over Pandora, and three hovering steadily over Zane. Both of his opponents looked far from being in shape to move out of the way, and it was through his needles that he would keep them in place.

And suddenly Pandora began talking again, though this time it was not to Dusk or Zane. All of the red flags in Dusk’s head rose at once, and he knew without a doubt things were only going to get better from here.

"I'm--I'm--I'm not giving in to you! Never--I'd rather die first!" Pandora cried, and with a snap of his fingers his discarded sword (which had been lying near Zane) rematerialized in Dusk's right hand. Things were about to get very messy it seemed. "You--already know the answer. Already..." Pandora said again, and then went silent. Dusk did not lower his sword though, even though for all intents and purposes Pandora seemed unable to battle at this point. He still had one more target to attend to...

“How about we call this off, before things get…messy?” Dusk asked, addressing Zane as the needles hovering around him drew closer with threatening intent. “Unless you want them to get messy, in which case…” He said, trailing off as what looked to be a thin veil of energy began to cover his body. “I will oblige you.” His body language and the way he spoke seemed to dare Zane to try his luck and repeat his previous actions, to see just how well trying to interrupt him while he was talking would work.

“Heh, now she’s got you talking.” Noir giggled, his voice bouncing through Dusk's mind. He paid no heed to Mischief though, he only focused on his last remaining opponent.

~~~~~
“Might I ask just who you are?" said Pyro Cappy, with what seemed to be irritation. Zeke answered him with silence at first, content to float ominously in the air. But on the inside, it was a much different story, in fact if he could he would have been sweating.
<“Did he…did he just get right back up.”> Pike Naedle asked with incredulity. <“You, like, pile drive’d him right through a goddamn wall.”> He said, his surprise and the implications not lost on Zeke. <“Uh, you may just have to take a little more caution with this dude, I’m getting some bad vibes from him.”> Zeke could only reply to his friend with silence, he had no idea what he had just gotten himself into. He kept his falchion pointed right at the unfriendly batamon though, because he’d be damned if he let whoever this was take him by surprise.
“Give me your name, and I shall give you mine.” Zeke said, trying his very best to put as much malice in his words as possible, the audio filter making his voice echo in a way that would exude a sense of power. He was trying his best to keep up his fierce façade, whoever this thing was he wanted it to register that it was facing a legitimate threat.
<“We may have to use that.”> Pike Naedle muttered, his snark having disappeared.
“Not if I can help it we won’t.” Zeke thought with determination.
Though he didn't show it, Durock was honestly surprised that Deguass had gone along with his request to help him up instead of doing what he actually expected. Which was Deguass just staying there on top of him and rubbing his face into the dirt.
Perhaps the king of dicks did have a one or two redeeming qualities to him. Though that didn't stop the cat from biting back with his own remark after grabbing the out-stretched arm and pulling himself up.
"Thanks" He said succinctly, and immediately followed up with. "So.. Now that we've chatted about my blunders, why don't we talk about those of a self-proclaimed genius?"
"Oooh, I think I have one." Durock said, not even cracking a smirk. He paused for a moment of silence as if to think abotu what he wanted to say,, however he already knew, he was simply noting something he'd noticed about himself.
It was that feeling you get when your wounds start to heal after getting injured. That incredible itch in the damaged areas, except in his case, because of what had happened it was all over his body, resulting in the temptation for him to scratch everywhere like he had fleas.
Soon enough though, Durock would probably also notice that his body was regenerating, much like Rayd's did with his healing factor.
Ending the brief silence, he looked straight into Deguass's piercing teal eyes and then said. "Hmm... Yeah... How's about that Terakein bomb, yeah? You know, that weapon of mass destruction that for some reason, you INSTALLED in a GOD-LIKE ROBOT without any fail safes in case he went BERSERK. Yeah, thanks for almost killing me, all my friends and !@#$% knows how many other innocent people with that thing!
He went quiet after his statement, simply standing there and glaring at Deguass, giving him dagger eyes. Durock didn't really care how the man reacted. Though he did have two guesses, either Deguass would give him those crazy eyes like in the coliseum, or he'd go on acting smug and nonchalant as always.
Zane observed Dusk carefully, his firearm remaining held as steadily as he could muster. After a moment or so of tension, Zane's arms dropped, and naturally so did his weapon. He was in no condition to fight this battle, and Dusk had a distinct upper hand, the biggest issue however were the warnings being dropped.
Like Dusk, Zane had recognized something was not right with Pandora, and it appeared that they might have to set aside their differences to tackle a greater foe. "Any idea where to go from here?" He inquired calmly, still unable to summon the strength necessary to stand, he could only do as Dusk instructed from here on, given that dealing with Meta-humans and the super natural was by no means Zane's forte'.
((Uhmm... Plas. Buddy. That Anti-matter thing isn't going to be recognized by any of the characters at any point in time. Because that was a blunder on my part and not the characters... So your joke doesn't make any sense. Just saying.
I mean, first of all none of the characters ever called it Anti-matter, it was only referred to as such in the Narration. And it happened in Crossroads. Meaning that Plas shouldn't even remember that since it's a different continuity altogether.))
((Actually we usually treat some of those event as having actually happened, just without M2, Deguass or Tybalt in the picture. We even referenced it in pain as well. It would be recognized by Deguass because that's the knowledge he would have programmed M1 with. It was even directly stated that it was It was "anti-matter as known by Noripathians."
Though it's true it was only in narration, it's something that another character, (probably Plas) would have corrected M1 if they ever talked about those battles (which they would considering how much it would have effected their relationship) We make references to crossroads all the time (outside of Durock's screwed up dreams) Like Durock killing M1, the battle between the three of them, etc. At this point, It would be inconsistent of us just to suddenly forget about the events and certain things that happened.
I wouldn't really go correcting me on it considering you had Deguass suddenly, supposedly knowing Zetsara's history for no reason at all. And that's not even listed in her profile. This would actually have a reason, even though such a discussion would have happened "off-screen" ))
((Okaaaay but no one is going to know what the !@#$% Plas is on about. Not even M1. Since again, blunder. On the writers part. Not the characters. It makes no bleeding sense. None of the characters at any time have referred to it as Anti-matter, so really Plas is the only one calling it that.))
((Additionally I have long since corrected that, so really Plas bringing it up now is.... Inconsistent.))
((Yeah, Degauss is right here. Completely different continuity and all that. Plas should have no recollection of any of those events. LoL, like I mentioned before you have to be a little more careful with the fourth wall breaking.))
The standoff between Zane and Dusk lasted for a tense albeit short amount of time. Zane lowered his weapon, and Dusk returned the courtesy by snapping his fingers. The needles that had been hovering above Zane's head dispersed and instead flew to join the other needles he had hovering over Pandora.
"Any idea where to go from here?" Zane inquired calmly.
"We call the infirmary to get you two some medical attention." Dusk said simply as he walked over to Pandora. "But before we go ahead and make that call, I'll need to check something." He said, pointing at Pandora as he did so. He crouched down to her level, still keeping a grip on his blade in case the situation worsened. "You alright?" Dusk asked cautiously, still keeping the needles above her in check. He really didn't feel like dealing with some deadly super-powered being so soon after their earlier run-in with the rogue M1, and if it came to that he would incapacitate Pandora before she had the chance to let loose.
"Ah...Ah...Just keep me conscious. Don't care...what you have to do. Keep me conscious...keep me away from people..." Pandora tried moving her head in order to face Dusk, but dropped it back to its original position. "If I can stay conscious, I might be able to keep him...her...it inside and in check...But if I do lose control, I have one request..." She paused for a few moments.
"...Kill me."
---
"How polite of you, sir." Crista dismissed the cannons, causing them to dissolve back into formless water. "I was going to have you take the first move, but if I try to argue with you about it, we'll just be here forever, you know? And I can't exactly be here forever, can I?"
So she decided to go aim a right jab at Theo's chest. Not that it'd probably do any good, but nobody said she was any good in a standard fistfight, right?
((I was gonna have Sharon say something but I think I'll leave it for later, lol.))
About Me: I'm the original gameboy.
"Heeey~" Spindow said as he batted a eye at the his opponent in an attempt to woo him into lowering his weapon. "What's a sweet little thing like you doing with a nasty piece of work like this. A lady like you shouldn't be handling something as brutish as a weapon... You are a woman right? Honestly I can barely tell the difference with you guys, you all pretty much the same and I'm going to be shot aren't I?"
((This was absolutely hilarious!XD))
Cappy was glad that his attack had worked, but still wondered what Spindow was trying to do earlier. It was very strange to Cappy, but he didn't have time to think about it at the moment. Suddenly, bits of a black, gooey substance shot to the ceiling, ripped several chunks of stone from the arena floor, and formed a giant mass similar in appearance to a giant flail. Spindow's voice called out to signify the fact that Cappy hadn't won the match just yet. Spindow was angered by the fact that he had been blasted by a whirlwind during whatever it was he was doing earlier. It seemed Spindow was out for blood as he began his attack by swinging the giant flail around in a circle. Cappy needed to run, but he couldn't due to the fact that there was only patches of ice on the floor of the arctic arena. All he could do was quickly hop away, which got him a few feet away. As the giant flail whipped around towards him, Cappy decided to make a last-ditch effort to avoid the huge stone mass and tried to dive jump out of the attack's path. This was a risky move. Sure, kirbies were very light creatures, but they also had no legs. Any jumping was done with their feet.
Fortunately, Cappy just barely dodged the attack as it plowed right into the wall. Cappy sighed with relief at his luck. He rose to his feet after struggling a bit. He was tired from the energy he had exerted by doing all that jumping, he was becoming exhausted, he was running short of breath, and he was still covered in cuts and getting cold. He then looked up at the ceiling and saw where the flail was attached Cappy raised his stubby arm and pointed it at the base of the giant gooey strand that connected the flail to the ceiling. Cappy focused some energy into his arm stub and after a few seconds, another glowing blue beam of icy energy was fired. Cappy needed to freeze Spindow and end this fight soon, or else he would be in very bad shape.
((Please address any problems present. I actually had to assume how big Spindow's giant "flail" was in order to have Cappy dodge the attack. Also, I'll make a Pyro Cappy post later.))
Gazing at the scene, Torvus' stomach felt like it was twisting up into knots and he was bombarded by several different emotions at once. Sorrow, anger, pain, loss, seeing the scorched, time-frozen monochromatic remains of all that was left of what he and the tiger once called their den was over whelming. He remembered, that after the fire, he and Durocksoem rough times that resulted in them going their separate ways. Torvus remained in Wakao, Durock traveled abroad, even though Torvus stayed and assisted in the region's recovery effort he never came back here.
Acheron was doing her own... Magical thing, so he decided to quietly wander around and look for something that seemed out of place or could possibly give him answers. The first place that came to mind was the cave. It made sense since everything else had been razed to the ground. The stream that divided the once lush area in half didn't look like it'd have any clues.
As he wandered into the grotto, he noted how it was strange dark inside, pitch black. Maybe it had something to do with how the rest of the area was? It was like the darkness was absorbing the light that came in from the outside, his night vision couldn't even assist him. Not being able to see wasn't too big of a concern to him though, he still remembered the general layout, he made his way deeper into the cave.
It wasn't until he reached the far back, that he noticed something odd an out of place, there was a faint glow coming from where the back wall would have been. Naturally, he checked it out and as he got closer, it became brighter and brighter. He stopped just in front of it and then called out to Archeron, not sure what he was looking at other than a point of light shining in total darkness.
"Acheron, come here!" He called loudly with his scratchy voice. "I found something that shouldn't be here. I don't know what it is!"
Then, without warning, the point of light expanded, covering much of the back wall's length. Torvus jumped back, startled by the sudden activity and then gazed into the light. He wasn't sure what he was seeing here, the most familiar thing he could associate the swirling object with was a whirlpool, with a grayish light, swirling like water down the drain, around an even brighter, white center. What was it?
Before Torvus could try to figure out the answer to that question, a powerful force from within suddenly uprooted hi from his spot and pulled him inside, swallowing him up like a vacuum cleaner.
By the time Acheron arrived, all she'd see is the silhouette of the marsupial disappearing into the spiral as he screamed out for help in futility.
((I have more in mind for this, but I'll let an Acheron post happen first.))
About Me: A little over the top, you know?
"Dang it I missed! DANG IT, DANG IT, DANG IT!" Spindow snarled. "HOW DID I MISS?! I'M SWINGING A FRIGGIN' BOULDER OF CONCRETE AND ICE AT HIM! HOW DO YOU DODGE THAT?!"
The base lurched back before jolting forward, sending a shockwave down the chain and dislodging the frozen oreball from the embedded wall, sending chunks of stone scattering. Setting his sights on the the kirby, Spindow saw that he was preparing to fire another ice beam at him, thankfully he was far more prepared then his previous IGLOOCUBE idea before. The flails base expanded slightly much like a bubble. As it grew the shine of steel peeked out as the gel split apart and receded to the back of the steel shield that had just been erected. Spindow was keen to how Cappy's Freezing seemed to work, as long as you don't touch whatever gets frozen you won't be in any real danger. With that knowledge he returned to prepping up another strike on his opponent, opting for long sweeps across the field over scoring a direct hit. Coverage over precision might be the trick to clobber that there kirby into the ground. If not that then maybe some kind of huge and imposing beast of some sorts. Hmm...
---
Acheron sighed as the Devil left to wander around the cave he had once lived in. The peace would help make this chore pass faster, though not by much. Time was growing short, and the repeated use of her powers was only serving to complicate matters. Hopefully though Plas' essence would provide the details necessary to finish up and head out; she was exhausted, and hungry.
The time it took to go over the data past fairly quickly. Unsurprisingly it failed to provide any indications of a physical ailment stopping the Tiger from becoming conscious once more, but it did provide some insight that Acheron was less then amused to see. Durock's last brainwave, the sudden attack that they had seen from the outside, was transmitted from outside his body, from an intermediary location that can't be identified. "His mind isn't misdirected, it's completely missing. Wonderful." Acheron scowled. The signs kept growing worse and worse with each matter brought to light. It wasn't worth trying to hide anymore.
Just then Torvus' voice called out from within the cave, beckoning her to investigate. She rose up off the ground and unruffled her dress. "Whatever could it be?" She thought as she began drawing closer. "Torvus, can you describe what you're looking at precisely? Don't leave anything out... Torvus?"
It was completely silent again. Although perhaps the Taz was a little offended at the sheer irony of Acheron's request, all things considered, Acheron's intuition told her something had just happened. Hastened with worry Acheron bounded straight into the cave to find the swirling vortex inhabiting the cave, which had already consumed a great deal of her partner in its light. "TORVUS!" She shouted as he was screamed like a panicked animal caught in a snare. Before she could even get any closer to help Torvus he was swallowed up completely. Torvus was gone.
Torvus tumbled, tumbled and tumbled, through what was apparently some kind of tunnel, falling through it without any end in sight. All the while a constant stream of images bombarded his mind, appearing before his eyes in flashes that played before them like movie clips. Every dream, every thought, every emotion and every experience. A torrent of everything that made up who Durock was, was just barraging poor Torvus's mind all at once, and then replaying to him over and over ad infinitum.
It was overwhelming, and mind bending, already stressed from everything he endured up until now, Torvus's mind finally snapped and his sanity ebbed away. He screamed out hysterically, shrieking loudly as if he was being tortured in the bowels hell.
Then suddenly all of it abruptly stopped, as if somebody had flipped a switch and turned it all off. When Torvus opened his eyes he found himself laying belly up in a cold river, his body trembling like he'd been having seizure from everything he'd just experienced in the tunnel. Though many of the memories were now embedded in his mind, one in particular had stuck out among all the others. It involved a time when Durock was only a cub.
--------------
((Gonna add the memory here... I'm not as eloquent at writing as Deguass is but here you go, It gets a little dark.))
A small tiger youth was playing in the forest, running around and hiding in the thick shrubbery, His green coat allowing him to blend in perfectly with his surroundings (or so the confident little guy thought.) He hadn't taken into account that his playful antics and giggling gave his location away. Then, About a minute or so later, much larger feline appeared on the scene. It was tigress, she was the mother of the cub.
She had a cheerful toothy grin across her muzzle as she called out the cubs name, acting as if she couldn't find him, even though the truth of the matter was she knew exactly where her son was. She was an expert at hunting. The two were simply playing a game of hide and seek, which also double as a training exercise in prowling and stealth. Skills that were important if he was to survive on his own. The 'game' had brought the mother and child pair to the forest's edge at cliff side of a ravine.
Unfortunately this area was part of another tiger's territory. A large male who been stalking them through the forest ever since they first entered. Neither of them were aware of his presence nearby, he had kept silent and stayed down wind. He's kept his eyes on both of them, but eventually he lost track of the cub, though that really didn't matter to him. The cub only served a nuisance for him, but a great distraction for his real target. His mother, who he kept a constant eye on and waiting for just the right moment when she had her guard down.
The youth and his mother remained blissfully unaware of the looming threat as the two played together. Durock, the very energetic and playful cub, was about to pounce his mothers foot, when suddenly a large intimidating male leaped out at his mother from seemingly out no where and forcefully tackled her to the ground and then pinned her beneath himself.
Then extended his razor sharp claws, he dug them into her flesh, using them to hold her steady against her will as she tried to struggle and fend him off. Becoming frustrated, with her stubbornness and refusal to submit, he began shocking her with jolts of electricity, paralyzing her completely, leaving her unable to do anything. She gave him a looked of disdain that also suggested he had been familiar with this tiger, that perhaps something had happened between them in the past. Eventually he pumped enough electricity into her to knock her unconscious.
Unable to just stand by and watch his mother get attacked, the brave youth extended his claws and lunged forth at the large impossible tiger, despite their obvious size differences. He left into the air intended to tear into the attacker's face only to be swatted away casually by the adult's massive paw, injuring Durock and throwing him into a large stone.
Left unable to move young Durock was completely helpless and unable to do anything for his mother. The only thing he could do was watch in horror as the large male forced himself upon her, and repeatedly thrust himself into her, while simultaneously discharging jolts of electricity into her body that made her spasm and jerk for for his pleasure.
When he was finished with the mother, he kicked her aside and left her for dead, then made a move for the youth who had foolishly attacked him. As he drew closer to young Durock, he thought he noticed something familiar about the cub, was it his eyes, his markings or his scent? There was just something about the cub. Whatever it was it didn't matter. As far as he was concerned, the youth was nothing more than a mere pest who would get in the way of whatever plans he had for the mother. She belonged to him now and cub had to be eliminated.
The large male walked over to the terrified cub, picked Durock up by the throat and held him high. The two gazed at one another, their amber eyes meeting. Then he began to strangle and shake Durock, Trying to choke him to death or snap the youth's neck, whichever came first it didn't matter. Simultaneously, he discharged massive jolts of electricity into the tiny tiger's body, only to be stunned when he realized that no matter how much electricity he was able to pump into the child, there didn't seem to be any effect.
That's when a large toothy grin presented itself on his muzzle as he came to he realization of just what it was that bugged him about the child and why he seemed so familiar despite them having never met before.
Durock, stubbornly struggling to stay alive, took advantage of his attacker's pause and surprise and then let loose a fury of wild slashes. The cub dragged his claws down the side of the tiger face, leaving him with a large gash that disfigured visage and permanently blind in one eye.
The large male roared out in pain and then violently shook the cub again, then threw him off the cliff into the ravine below.
The tigress finally regained consciousness, but found herself unable to move thanks to the numbness and paralysis caused by the electricity. She opened her eyes and the first thing she did was to look for her son, only to find him in the grasp of the male. Unanble to move she could only watch and scream out in horror as she saw her child he get shaken like a rag doll and then get thrown over the side of the cliff
((Being an Auramancer is a heritage but they don't come into their active abilities until they begin maturing. So as a cub, Durock didn't have his electrical or plasmatic abilities. I think you can figure out what I'm implying with the Adult male tiger here.))
-----------------------
His stability had already cracked back in the tunnel, he was already shivering as he laid in the river. His sanity just continued to slip away more and more as he glanced at his surroundings.. On either side of the river were masses of land, one side was dark, cold and desolate, like it was frozen in time in a state of nuclear winter. The other side of the river was a total antipode to this, green grass, flowery fields and bright blue skies, it was the picture perfect definition of paradise. The river he was laying in was bathed in perpetual twilight, and the waters themselves flowed off to a sudden drop of just a ways away from him. The description of the area seemed to fit the accounts of those who claimed to have near death experiences.
Even so, it was the scenery was too surreal and only added to the chaos that was left of his mind. He began speaking and screaming in gibberish, broke down into fits of hysterical laughter and crying. All the while pulling out bits and pieces of his fur. He'd gone mad.
About Me: A little over the top, you know?
It went without saying that Acheron couldn't leave Torvus to the mercy of whatever was beyond the portal, which wouldn't be much if any she assumed. But in order to do this she would have to travel into whatever realm laid beyond the gate. "I need to act wisely, wherever this portal takes me may not be as easy to travel back from."
Acheron reached into her cloak and fetched out a long strand of gray silk. It was in fact the Nanobots that had previously filled Durock stripped down of anything other then their material. The end result was a strong and metallic yarn, athough still surprisingly flexible. Tying one end to the closest piece of anchored rock, Acheron dove into the portal to search for the lost marsupial.
In her decent, she was instantly bombarded with a cascade of raw emotional history. The times and trials of Plas smashing into her like a torrent of raindrops, each encapsulating one moment after another. It was something she clearly wasn't ready to encounter as she tried her best to avert her eyes from the sea of time surrounding her, reciting to herself over and over that it for Durock and Torvus.
It did strike her as a bit odd though. Why would all this history serve as the bridge from Durock's dreamland to wherever this portal was leading to. In her experience, she wouldn't have really thought that timelines would really be tolerated in any way relating to he presumed destination. It's keeper loathed anything to do with time, doing everything to ensure that every universe was ripped apart and destroyed to prevent time from continuing to progress and farther, not only destroying one universe, but any others that would have branched off from it. It didn't line up.
Sure enough though, when Acheron finally reached this destination, she found the answer that she needed. "Thank goodness, this isn't the Grand Void. But if it isn't then where am I?" The land seemed to be divided by an expansive river that had no discernible beginning or end as far as her eyes could see. The sky seemed to hang a cold, unfeeling blanket of despair across the equally cadaverous wastelands that took occupancy on this side of the the stream. The only resident to this side was the sole Tazmanian devil who had made it a goal to bald himself in a fit of madness.
"Torvus! Thank goodness you're okay... physically at least." Acheron watched as the Taz continued to sway across the plains, half-giggling, half-horrified. "Oh dear, all this trauma has left you temporarily insane hasn't it?" The question was rhetorical of course, it was clear to see his sanity had slipped into a dark place, and his emotional state with each passing second grew more delicious, er... deciduous. Torvus wouldn't be able to provide any help in his current state unless Acheron tried to help. Hopefully though the tried and true would cure the babbling beast to a far more stable condition.
"Here Torvus, come here boy." She beckoned to the man-sized balding Devil like it was a lost puppy. "I've got something that will make you feel better." Adding a bit of a cooing to make her offer sound more inviting.
