Kirby's Rainbow Resort

((I'll probably edit the topic's title once I actually get a battle going... Also I am going to admit the set-up isn't all that great. I'm not too sure about what to do for it, so I kind of just went with the first thing I could come up with.))

It was a sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky, just like yesterday. And the day before that. And the day before that. Morrie was starting to get tired of this weather, simply because of how hot it could get around noon. If only it would be cloudy, just so he wouldn't become so dehydrated during the day...

The rat left his home and proceeded to his usual training spot. It was a nice clearing in the nearby forest where a small river cuts through the trees. There weren't any rocks or other obstructions that would bother Morrie, which is just the way he prefers it. Many of the trees nearby had clear cuts on them from where Morrie's sword connected with the bark. Unsheathing his falchion, the rat began to hack at a new tree. He didn't want to become rusty with his blade.

A noise. The rustling of branches from behind him. Morrie stopped swinging his sword to listen. The rustling occured once more, closer this time. He slowly began to turn around, his paw still gripping his sword tightly.

Someone - or something - was there. He couldn't exactly make out what it was, but there was something hidden behind the trees. It might've been watching him, or maybe it was just making its own way through the forest. Morrie didn't mind being watched while he practiced, but he did prefer knowing someone was watching him.

"Hey, you!" The rat called to the figure. "Why don't you come on out instead of hiding like that?"

Race: Anthropomorphic Rat

Appearance: Here. The one that isn't a Rattata.

Personality: Morrie's skeptical to most things at first; things that he think sound unbelievable have to be proven to him before he believes it (that can have something to do with the fact that he's an atheist). Though he weilds a sword with decent proficiancy, he doesn't use it often and usually tries to find a more peaceful way out of a fight. He usually tries to avoid speaking of his past, simply because there's many things he wishes he could forget.. as well as things he can't even remember. Regardless, he's still a helpful and kind rat. It could be thought that the reason he tries to uphold the law is because he's trying to condone for something he regrets..

Powers:

Swordplay - Morrie has been trained to fight with swords for a few years of his life, and the training has paid off quite a bit. He's by no means the strongest swordfighter, nor is he all that strong, but he does know how to use a sword. Morrie specializes in one-handed single-bladed swords, seeing as those are the swords he has been trained to use the most.
Enhanced Senses - Being a rat, Morrie's hearing is better than that of a human, as is his night vision. However, since he comes from a world where anthropomorphic rodents are the status quo, he has never really considered this a strength of his.

Weapon of Choice:

Falchion - Morrie's weapon of choice. This small, single-handed sword is only 19 inches in length, but its blade is sharp and its power is equal to that of an axe. Morrie has had this sword for about a year and a half, and it has been his weapon of choice since he obtained it. It often rests in a sheath attached to a belt, the only article of clothing that Morrie usually wears.

Other Notes: First off, Morrie's left-handed, though I'm not sure if that'd make a big deal. Second off, Morrie's naked, but he's got fur so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. And third off, try to remember Morrie's size in relation to your own character - being only four feet and three inches tall, Morrie'd appear the same size as a child to a standard adult human.

The figure from the bushes suddenly burst into the open, and it was revealed to be a large, icy golem of some sort.

"lol I am Regice. i'm cool, get it? i'm cool and i'm made of ice. lol"

((Just kidding))

It was not a good day, decided Stoofy. The starman looked around him, trying to figure out where the heck he was.

"Great, just great," he muttered. "First I have some strange nightmarish dream that I can't even remember and then I wake up in some random place."

He knew he had just awoken from a strange dream, but like all the dreams that a person would like remember, this one slipped away along with his sleep. Giving a final huff in frustration, he walked off in hopes of finding out his location.

"Man, I didn't think that I had trouble with sleepwalking, but how else would I have gotten here?" Stoofy scratched his head. "This doesn't even look like Popstar. Arrrrrrrrrgh..."

It was then that he heard something. It sounded like a woodsman chopping at trees. Stoofy rushed in the sound's direction in hopes of finding someone who could answer his questions. His running was impeded, however, when he came across some large bushes. A quick struggle ended with him falling headfirst into the middle of the foliage. He pressed further, rustling the plants in his attempt to get through. Suddenly a voice spoke up.

"Hey, you! Why don't you come on out instead of hiding like that?"

With a final shove, Stoofy tumbled out of the bushes and plopped into a clearing. He brushed himself off and started replying to the one that had addressed him. "I'll have you know I wasn't hiding in those stupid bushes, I was trying to..."

Stoofy looked up and realized he was talking to a four-foot rat, with a sword that did not look at all friendly.

"Good gravy! Who the heck are you!?" he shouted, and tripped on his cape as he tried to step backwards. Righting himself again, he took a fighting stance. "Are you friend or foe?"

The odd creature that had come out of the woods was certainly not something Morrie was accustomed to seeing. It almost looked like a large, cape-wearing tooth with arms and legs - but even though it was large by tooth standards, it was still noticeably shorter than Morrie. The rat lowered his sword, puzzled by the appearance of this thing. It seemed rather clumsy, considering the way it tripped on its own cape like that. When it adopted a battle stance and asked if Morrie was an enemy or not, Morrie had a feeling that there had to be something more to this thing...

"I'm Morrie." He took a few steps closer to the weird little thing and realized that it lacked facial features, making Morrie wonder how it could see and speak. "It depends on whether or not I'm a friend or foe. If you want to watch me practice, go right ahead." The rat turned his back on the creature and returned to the tree he was previously practicing his swings on. He cut the tree's bark once more with a quick horizontal slash and was beginning to attack once more when an idea started to form in his mind. It was a bit of an odd idea, but maybe if there really was something more to the tooth it would all work out. He turned to face it once more, again lowering his sword.

"Hey, I was wondering, can you fight? Because I rarely get the chance to have a sparring partner, and you could help me get practice when it comes to attacking small objects." The rat watched the thing closely in order to gauge a response.

"I'm Morrie," the large rat answered Stoofy in a manner of fact way. "It depends on whether or not I'm a friend or foe. If you want to watch me practice, go right ahead."

With that, Morrie turned and started to swing his large sword at some trees, which judging by their appearance had been exposed to this activity many times before. Stoofy slowly relaxed his stance. So that was the noise he had heard, not woodcutters, but a rodent practicing its swordplay on some trees.

Stoofy looked rather indignantly at Morrie as the rat subjected a sapling to a horizontal slash.Um, hello? I'm still here. Geez, what's this guy's problem. Almost as in response to the starman's thoughts, Morrie stopped again and turned around.

"Hey, I was wondering, can you fight? Because I rarely get the chance to have a sparring partner, and you could help me get practice when it comes to attacking small objects."

Stoofy grinned. "Can I fight? Obviously you don't know who I am. You happen to be speaking to none other than..." He struck a glorious pose, and proceeded to accentuate each new title of his speech with a new dramatic position. "Stoofy the Stupendous! Conquerer of the Cosmos! Greatest in all the Galaxies! Able to Leap Tall Buildings in a Single Bound! The light of my heroic deeds shines brightly into the masses huddled in the dark despair of evil and doom! None can stand before the fury of my stupendous power!"

He paused, seeming to revel in the imagined glory of the words he had just spoken. "Man, that just gets better every time I say it! I need to set this to music." Suddenly he remembered Morrie, who was still standing in front of him. "Oh, yeah, sorry. Um, sure, I'd love to spar with you, if you think you can handle it."

Morrie eyed the suddenly enthusiastic tooth-thing as it began its spiel. Throughout the entire speech Morrie could only think one thing: "Is this guy serious?" After several heroic exclaimations (with equally heroic poses), the little "hero" that identified himself as Stoofy agreed to fight with Morrie. The rat was starting to regret asking, now that he's learned that his sparring partner appeared to be rather arrogant.

"All right... Stoofy, was it?" Morrie took a step back, testing his sword arm to make sure it wasn't too tired from his practicing. "I haven't heard of anyone like you, but if you're willing to duel with me then it doesn't matter. Though there's one thing..." He studied Stoofy closely, but again his eyes failed to notice a weapon of any sort. He was still trying to adjust to looking at Stoofy's face (or lack thereof). He couldn't tell if he was being watched as well, or how his opponent felt. Morrie decided to just get the question out. "If you can fight, where's your weapon?"

He started to regret saying anything about the weapon, and quickly tried to brush the question away. "Er, that doesn't matter. You said you can fight, so I'll take your word for it." Not exactly waiting for a reply from Stoofy, the rat began to prepare himself for the upcoming battle. Standing across from Stoofy, his back to the river, Morrie waited for the battle to begin. "You can make the first move, if you want."

((Just as a note, I always imagined Stoofy as being able to wrinkle his skin to form a kind of eyebrow. Just think of where his eyes would be if he had any and right above that is where they would be. That would help people more accurately guage if he was surprised, angry, etc.))

Something stirred in the back of Stoofy's mind when Morrie asked him about a weapon. It tried very hard to surface, but before it could form it ended up sinking back down into the mire of semi-consciousness. As this was taking place Morrie seemed to be embarrassed by his question and quickly told Stoofy to ignore it. Taking a position in front of the river he said, "You can make the first move, if you want."

Stoofy shooed all the distractions out of his mind and immediately processed the situation. All right, he's got a sword so I'll need to watch out for that. There are no rocks or bushes in this clearing, but we are surrounded by a small forest, I could use that to my advantage. And there's a river, doesn't look like it has a strong current but I should be careful anyway.

"Okay then," he called to Morrie. "Hope you're quick on your toes!" Stoofy started to run at his opponent, but almost immediately blasted into a high jump attack. He soared right at Morrie, hoping his speed would catch the rat off-guard. Regardless of whether it hit or not, Stoofy passed right through where Morrie was standing; if he didn't dodge he would suffer a hefty tackle. Stoofy landed right at the edge of the water and turning, blasted high up into the air. Once he reached the peak of his jump, he pointed down and shot towards Morrie in a high jump aimed more or less straight down. When his target was close, Stoofy curled into a ball and slammed down in what he had dubbed a "Super High Jump Cannonball."

Standing up and sweeping his cape behind him, Stoofy looked to see how Morrie had fared. "I think you'll agree that I don't need a weapon made out of iron and steel!" he said triumphantly.

Morrie certainly was not expecting Stoofy's attack to be that quick. Nor was he expecting it to be that strong. The little hero started running towards Morrie, but the high-speed tackle that came from that short run caught the rat completely off-guard. He had no time to react when he was hit directly in the chest, knocking the wind out of him and pushing him into the river. Morrie felt himself drop his sword and fall backwards; the water was shallow and calm, but the coldness was as much of a shock as the initial blow from Stoofy's attack.

The rat coughed and sputtered, trying to get his breath back. His fur was wet, which made him feel miserable. His chest ached from his opponent's powerful tackle. His sword lay in front of him. The rat forced himself back to his feet and climbed out of the river - just as a large splash was heard from behind him. Water splattered Morrie's back and he turned to see Stoofy hopping out of the river. He was just as wet as Morrie was, but he didn't seem to mind it as much as the rat (more than likely due to his lack of any visible hair). Stoofy swept his cape behind him as Morrie picked up his weapon.

"I think you'll agree that I don't need a weapon made out of iron and steel!"

Morrie nodded in agreement, still surprised at how much energy and power was packed into such a small creature. He had to come up with a new approach if he wanted to win the fight -but how would he be able to hit such a small target that could move so fast? He'd have to get Stoofy to stop moving, but that wouldn't be an easy task... Perhaps he could try faking his opponent out?

He began running towards Stoofy, his sword lifted above his head. Once he got close enough, he swung his sword downwards. But when his falchion was close enough to its target, he whipped his sword-arm back and swung it again, this time in a horizontal arc. Morrie hoped that his opponent would have tried to dodge to the left, putting Stoofy in range of the horizontal slice. It wasn't the best strategy, but it was the first he could come up with.

Stoofy grinned, although he was dissappointed that his second attack had missed, he had still caught Morrie completely offguard with his first tackle. Now the rat was up again, running at Stoofy and swing his sword in a downwards slice. Heh, piece of cake. I'll just dodge this and let him have another Super High Jump! Stoofy jumped to the left, which was easiest because his foe was left handed. But then Morrie stopped his swing and let loose a horizontal slash; the first strike had been a feint! It was all Stoofy could do to not to take a full slash right across his middle. As it was, the starman barely managed to pull of a high jump and rocket upwards. Despite this, he still recieved a nice cut on his right foot-like appendage.

Stoofy grimaced in midair as his wound bled a little. AH! Dang it! I can't believe he tricked me like that. He quickly repositioned himself to face Morrie. He still had an advantage in that Morrie knew nothing about mpst of his attacks, now he needed to use that advantage. He blasted downwards in a diagonal line, making sure to watch his opponent carefully for any counter-attacks. Now that Morrie was aware that he could perform high-speed tackles, it was likely the rodent would try to use his speed against him with a blow from that large sword. Once he was right next to where his opponent had just been standing, he brought his hands together and released the star power from his jump into a single point, resulting in quick series of min-explosions. If Morrie hadn't gotten more than a foot away he would be caught by at least some of the attack.

The force from the move propelled Stoofy away in a diagonal line. Flipping to right himself, he touched down on the ground and tried to skid to a stop facing his opponent. But he had forgotten about his wound; pain flared up as he skidded and caused him to lose balance and tumble backwards into a tree. He got up slowly and rubbed his head, which was pounding from the fall. Quickly looking around, he tried to ascertain the whereabouts of his foe. Had Morrie taken the blow? Or was the rat now moving in to take advantage of his stumble?

((Ramphy I'm sorry if you wanted to finish this but I'm going to have to abandon it. I'm already in several RPs as it is and I'm rather uninspired, especially when it comes to pointless fighting... I realize I was the one who made the topic, but I don't know if I can really try to help my ability to write fight scenes if I don't even have any incentive to continue.))
