No, I remember one time when that happened to Joshi. It was only like a few months ago.

Well, okay. That certainly seems like an odd occurrence, tho'.

I know this is a real stretch but I feel like I need to mention it in order to reinforce my point. Let's say a random new member sends me a Personal Message asking me a question that I can't answer (lol). I refer them to a real forum staff member since they would be more capable of answering it. I explain that username colors are not restricted to staff. I get this back in response:
Quote:
Oh, okay! Sorry for bothering you! And thanks!
A bit later another PM lands in my inbox.
Quote:
Um.. how to you get username colors? I want one!
What do I tell them? 'Get promoted to forum staff?' I already said that they aren't restricted to forum staff, so if I said they need to be promoted I'd kinda be contradicting myself. Should I tell them to 'wait for the newest game where the reward is a username color?' Should I refer them to a staff member again so they can ask that staff member when's the next time they're able to obtain one? Do the staff even know when or if that's even going to happen again right now?

"There isn't a way to get one right now, most of the people who have them are from a forum game that already ended. I don't know when another forum game will be held, but you can ask a staff member who might!"

would be pretty acceptable

Yeah, yeah. That's plenty acceptable. I'm still curious as to what one of the real forum staff would say when asked about the next time obtaining a username color is. If more people start getting them, others are going to feel like they're obligated to receive one in the future. So what, the staff's just going to keep churning out forum games to earn username colors or is it just going to become a thing where 'username color' will be an option in everyone's User Control Panel? I remember there being quite a few people put off by the idea of the latter in the past, but I guess that sentiment seems to have all but deteriorated over past few months?

I'm not terribly fond of the forum username list looking like a bag of Skittles that burst, leaving the contents scattered all over the damn floor. Just sayin'

I've pretty much said all I can say at this point. I can't for the life of me think of anything else I could add to this argument, otherwise I would. :P I would hope that you've considered what I had to say and even if you still disagree, at least understand where I'm coming from. My words certainly don't have the driving force they used to these days.

I actually most preferred the cut-and-dry system whereby admins were red, globals were green, regionals were blue, and Dale was a masculine shade of pink, but obviously I do not particularly care either way.

i dunno i'm just posting because someone linked to my profile

No, when there isn't a game, there just isn't a game. Doesn't matter if members feel 'obliged' to get one, if there isn't an opportunity at the moment, there just isn't! It's a privilege, a prize, not a free handout. To be honest, we probably gave away a few too many during the bidoof game, but hey. Trial and error, or something like that? But then again, the fact that there are so many, could easily make people believe they don't mean staff, since, why would there be THAT MANY MODERATORS.

I'm sorry but I think others may just think that those with colored are something special... At least now I know that not all the colored usernames are staffs but it's still kinda confusing that some non-staff members have a different colored usernames... (what happens if all the colors are used?... [though that's not very important right now])
Excuse me. I just tried to make an average member's (or at least mine) point of view about the colored usernames.

EDIT: And of course I'm not going for a coloured username, I don't need one. (:\/) I went to this topic because I was a little curious about the coloured usernames.

i wouldn't have minded not having any non-staff username colours but a few people who had held onto their colour tags after quitting or being demoted got really defensive of them so i figured the next best thing was to make it so everyone had a chance to get one once in awhile

wow this should not even be a big deal
