Okay I'm back.

RIGHT okay so here's the deal. The ISPs colluding with media groups to monitor your activity is not the same thing as a law. You have legal recourse to this stuff. You can also simply mask your data, too, and there's nothing they can really do about it.

You're also missing some large parts of the story, here. Things may have changed recently, the groups involved might not be getting along as well as they were before. I know I don't have the whole story, too, so things might be better than that, even.


But there is one major thing I want you to understand, jhc:

Freaking out every single times hurts your efforts more than it helps.

Here's what I see: I see you, yelling and crying and pooping your pants because, oh my god, SOPA might kinda almost pass maybe in a million years. I see you claiming that it WILL DEFINITELY pass and WILL DEFINITELY ruin the Internet. I also know, for a fact, that neither of those claims are actually true. Suddenly, everything you say seems less likely to be true.

I mean, if you over-reacted about that, maybe you're over-reacting about this! Maybe your claims that, "On Thursday you will be monitored" are like your claims that "Tomorrow SOPA will pass and then the Internet will fall apart instantly." So there's no real reason for me to worry, right?

That's what this topic makes me think: That I don't actually have anything to worry about. Sure, jhc is crying like a tiny baby, but jhc has the worldview of a 6-year-old, so him crying about something means less than nothing. Maybe if someone who actually has an adult perspective on this stuff, like Mamthew, thinks we're in for a bad time, maybe then we should be worrying. But jhc? Ehhh. He freaked out more about Kirby comics, so it must be less important than that.

See how that works? Because you freak out at EVERYTHING, it means NOTHING that you're freaking out at this.


Make no mistake, this news is bad news. But it's not as bad as you're acting like it is, and you're doing nothing to help get people concerned.



Pretty much all data flows through Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T. So if they just dealt with those three, that would be like 99% of Americans.

2. CISPA has returned!



Well, wait until YOU get a warning yourself from the CCI for doing ANYTHING with Ivyna's old fansubbed episodes!

And to make matters WORSE, Obama is doubling our future internet censorship by adding an executive order that can make it very unlikely that he'll veto the bill this time, thus allowing the government to monitor us after all. So therefore, downloading off the internet is now going to be TWICE as dangerously illegal as we all should know now.

Like, considering your propensity to freak out about nothing, your post here would be inclined to make me think nothing is going to happen, did I not already know better.
